I don't like that word

Another gooney survey this morning. I worked hard, spent at least twenty minutes on it and boom, you don't qualify. The word in the used context ticked me off a bit. "investment". Investment in beauty?? I understand investment in the monetary sense but not in the body sense. It brings me back to when I was a kid and suddenly my Mom popped a girl's magazine on me. Basically out of the blue she wanted me to think about make up and "beauty routines." Do boys get the :comb your beard"? chat? I think using the word investment in this body context is sexist. Maybe it is just me but for me it feels very 50's and sexist.

I invest in my health, but I’ve never thought about anything I do as investing in beauty. I’m going to keep getting older. I don’t care as much if I look good; I just want to feel well.

@AmbiePam I agree with you. Investing is generally used for selling- something.

It's not just you, I also dislike (a lot) the world investment associated to the body.

No, boys get the "Take a shower, I don't care that you took one two hours ago, you stink now!" chat. And "Did you remember deodorant today?" chat. Young men have some odd words used at them in regards to looking nice, too... And yes, it seems sexist but in reverse.

@sallypup It’s hard to believe that the dominant message to young women is still “You have to get yourself pretty to get a man” and so many women fall for it.
