Almost a Picture-Perfect Day

Today the weather has been almost everything here. It was very still and cloudy early this morning. Which was a relief from the high (70-90 km) winds that we had yesterday. Lat this morning the clouds parted and the sun came out, but the breeze has picked up to a wind. Nothing like it was yesterday, but noticeable, especially given the temperature which is only 18C. We have a wedding to attend back down hear the area that we used to live in. It is a great niece's wedding. Yes, a niece's daughter to be exact. The venue is outside. And not far from the coastline of Lake Erie-@LindaOH I will wave to you. Typically there is noticeably more wind that comes off of the lake. I am sure that will be present today. The ceremony itself is held in an open area, and if it rains we will either get wet or retreat to the car to hear about it from the other guests. The reception and meal will be under a covered area from what I understand, with open sides, so it could potentially keep you dry, but your hair will be wind-blown. Outdoor weddings are doable in our area during the months of June, July and August, but we are in September. I hope that they have a Plan B for heaters to be brought in if it gets too cold. All of those possibilities make me happy that my guests were comfortable at our indoor wedding.

Did you see me wave back?!!!! I hope the weather held out for you. It doesn't sound very pleasant for an outdoor wedding.

Yes, I saw you when the big beautiful full moon was rising, I thought to myself, that is a sign that Linda is waving across the lake to me.

One of my sister’s had an outdoor wedding. It was in September. Actually today is their 39 th wedding anniversary. It was terribly hot. I prefer indoor weddings.

Happy Anniversary to her and her husband. She was married the year before I was. I prefer indoor weddings also.

I hope for everyone’s sake it goes well. I’d be too apprehensive about chancing an outdoor wedding. I know you’ll be the loveliest guest there! It’s pretty cool here today. I don’t mind it after the heat and humidity of last week.

You are sweet. Ron has a dressy sweater for each of us in the car seat behind each of our seats as well as a rain type of coat for us each. Thankfully, he couldn't locate his fedora, I dislike that hat so much on him. And besides, the wind could blow it off, I convinced him to allow me to put a bit of mousse in his hair to hold it from glowing crazy.

When you have an outdoor wedding, you are always at the mercy of the weather. My nephew will be married in September of next year. Hopefully nothing out of the ordinary will be happening weatherwise.

We've been to a few outdoor weddings in the month of July, and for our area they were much better. One was a picture perfect day, no heat and humidity but the other was the complete opposite, very hot and very humid, and no a/c when you are outdoors. They brought in huge fans to circulate the air under the tent, but it was so hot that I couldn't finish my plate.

We did not stay long, being outside it was cold and we grew tired because the chairs were terribly uncomfortable. Ron sat beside his brother, Bob, and they had a very nice visit. It is so good to see him in good health after his heart surgery. But there was no receiving line and the bride and groom did not visit the guests to thank them for the presence, which I felt was ignorant.

@LadyDuck When we were shown to our table, we found that they put 2 tables together, which was nice because that meant that all of our generation could sit together. But at our end was a sister, whom Bob has nothing to do with because she has insulted him so over the years, so I suggested to Ron that I sit across from her and her husband and he sit beside Bob. At the end of the night Bob thanked me for taking the place at the end of the table, and I know what he meant, and he whispered in my ear to make sure that I continue to take such good care of his little brother. it made my heart happy to hear that, he must have been remember times from years ago when they shared a bedroom growing up.

@Juliaacv - I am glad that at least Ron had a very nice visit with Bob. Very rude bride and groom. It's such a lack of manners not to visit the guests to thank them for their presence.

Outdoor weddings sound so romantic. But yes, we have to keep praying that the weather is well behaved. Enjoy the wedding. Hope that all goes well.

We are about to leave, it is considerably cooler and the clouds are heavy here, but we have over an hour's drive to get to the venue, so alot can change.

I hope the wedding goes well with no weather issues. Outside venues are nice for weddings but it's always smart to have options.

Thanks. It was nice for the ceremony, which was not covered. It did get quite breezy when we were in the pavilion but the staff pulled the fold down walls for us so it wasn't too terrible. We did not stay long as the venue was really basic and not very comfortable.

Outdoor weddings are subject to weather conditions. The wedding organizer must have known what the weather was like (It was a fine day according to the weather forecast.).

Most of the outdoor weddings are over by this time of the year. It was particularly cold last night and we did not stay long as a result.

It was cool, but it gave us an excuse to leave early, which we did.

Garden weddings are popular here too but most take care when choosing the time of the year.

The sun did make an appearance for the ceremony, but it was short lived. My heart went out to the young girls who were wearing backless dresses, they were cold.
