Hello everyone. I hope your day is going well. It is 65 degrees F and cloudy here at the Jersey Shore. Meh. I'm done with work for the day. There was a massive traffic jam on the parkway coming back here this afternoon so I got off at an earlier exit and just drove through the towns. I still made it back here at the usual time because the guy I share a room with and I booked it out of there as soon as the buses were gone. I'm back at the apartment with the cat crew. It doesn't appear that maintenance was here while I was gone. I realize that a busted dishwasher isn't an emergency but with all of the cooking I do it is kind of important to have it working. It was actually funny today--I was walking down a dark and empty hallway and one of the assistant principals was walking toward me. He was some distance away so I was surprised he knew it was me. Anyway he said "There she is! The new leader of the Baking Club! We've heard what an amazing baker you are. (assistant principal) was raving about your stuff. We can't wait to see what you do!" It was nice of him to say that but also kind of surprising because we don't really talk about anything other than issues with students or to just say hi in passing. She must have mentioned it recently. I'll have to make some goodies for them over the weekend. Oh actually now that I think of it tomorrow is the assistant principal's birthday. She loves my lemon pound cake. I'll make that for her tonight to give to her tomorrow. The power came back on at work today around 10am. My 1st period had fun playing games. By 3rd period it was back to reality. I've lectured 3 days straight so tomorrow and Friday they will be working on their own or in groups. I need a break. So I guess my big plans for this afternoon/evening are making dinner and baking a lemon pound cake. What's everyone else up to?

I’m glad people are making a big deal about your baking. When you have a talent it should be recognized. I’m done with my doctor appointment and ate lunch with my dad at his house with his wife. It’s the first food I’ve kept down in awhile so I’m happy. Then went to the pharmacy, came home, dog escaped, and stood on the 3rd floor begging my dog not to make chase her. She made me chase her.

I'm sure the lemon pound cake will be enjoyed and appreciated. Lemon is one of my favorite flavors. I'm glad there is such enthusiasm for the baking club. I know you will find a way to make it fun while teaching the kids how to bake things.

We'll see how much actual baking we can do. I do have access to funds and a classroom with an oven/range and fridge/freezer. I don't think there really is any equipment there except maybe a few pots. I will have to buy or bring in supplies. I already got the other KitchenAid from you-know-who so I will bring that in. I will bring mine in as needed. I won't leave it there. I actually won't leave the other one in that classroom but I will keep it in the storage closet in one of the classrooms I use. I don't trust that it won't be stolen. Some meetings will be cookie/cupcake decorating competitions. That's pretty much all they've done in the past. Some weeks we will actually prep/bake stuff. I'm going to see if they also are interesting in cooking. I could teach them things like salad dressings, dips, red sauce, fresh pasta, etc. We could mix things up or if I manage to survive this and there is enough interest even start a different club. Who knows?

@NJChicaa It sounds like you have thought out some plans for it. I do NOT envy you lugging around a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. They weigh a ton!

I'm glad you survived the day and made it home safely. Nothing going on here. Just watching some YT videos right now, waiting to fall asleep for the afternoon.

I am working on sharing news stories and completing surveys under a warm afternoon with the temperature around 90 degrees F.

Your lemon pound cake will be a welcome surprise. Nothing special planned for today.
