My ex is helping me to get a new TV

The TV I have here is a 42 inch plasma that I brought from the house when I moved. I had planned to take a different one (that was wonky) but my sister was like "F that we are taking the one from the bar!" We had a "Man Cave" in the basement complete with bar and we had that TV behind the bar so those who weren't watching the main TV could still see the games. So I've had it for these past 6 years after Darwin knows how many years at the house. The CNN logo and chyron banner is burned into it because it is a plasma TV. I actually even mentioned the CNN logo being burned in during jury selection earlier this year. I thought that would be a sure-fire way to get kicked off the jury. Nope. Anyway it has been flickering for a few weeks now and has likely served its useful time. I texted my ex to ask him to give me a recommendation for a new TV to buy. I am tech-stupid. This morning he sent me an Amazon link and told me why he thought it would be good. I was flabbergasted. A 50 inch LCD TV for $179? I remember when he and I paid thousands of dollars for that size. He said the bracket I already have should work. I'm just going to have to trust him on that. After the insane work day I got back here and texted him "thank you" and said that it would probably cost me more to hire someone to put/hook it up. He said he would do it. Interesting. . . We don't ever speak about what he is up to *ahem* but I've learned that he avoids seeing me in person when he is dating someone. So who knows what is up with him. I of course won't ask but I do appreciate the fact that he found a suitable TV for me and is willing to get it set up. It will be nice to see him even if it is just for TV setup. It has been a minute since we've seen each other.

My TV will probably die and I won’t realize it for a couple of years, as little as I watch it.

@NJChicaa — not I. John Prine said it best back in 1971: “blow up your TV, throw away your paper.” I had to look who Charlie Kirk was UP when my brother sent me a text, that’s how out of the loop I am.

@NJChicaa — maybe that’s how you get them to support abortion: telling them the baby will grow up to be a liberal. It’s pathetic that we’ve come this far backward, isn’t it.

I keep it on pretty much all of the time when I'm here and awake in the background. Most of the time it is news. (shocker)

I'm not someone who always needs to have the newest and best but the thing has started flickering. It has served its time.

@NJChicaa Absolutely. Who cares about newest if it’s working okay. But when it’s not, I’m going to need a TV!

He should be correct about the new television fitting on the bracket for the old television and it shouldn't take very long to switch the two of them out. You could always invite him to stick around for a meal when he gets done with the television.

@NJChicaa That makes sense... I'd never ask either of my exes to come over for a meal here... Too much water under the bridge and too many hurtful things said while we were getting divorced. I may miss them once in a while but wouldn't think of opening myself for more hurtful remarks. I'm happy enough with them never calling or stopping by to visit.

That's good that the ex will set up the TV for you. Something relatively simple like that can still cost a heap if you have to bring in someone from outside.
