A Big Closing Adventure

It's the last camp of the season for us, and very soon we'll begin prepping to have the camper winterized, and this year it looks like we will replace the tires. Last year they quoted me $700 for all four, which I thought wasn't bad. Who knows what it might be now? But it should be a nice closing adventure for us. We decided to take mom along with us. It will be her first camp, and we do expect challenges with the dementia and all. But I think it will be just fine, and she will have a good time. My sister and brother-in-law will be along as well. We got a buddy site at the campground we'll be staying at, and they rented a camper so they have their own space. We will be there later today, and they will join us on Friday, and my dad decided he will pop in as well on Saturday, but he won't be staying the night. He lives about an hour and a half away. Looking forward to it.

That camper looks so nice. It's good that you are taking your mom. Dementia or any other such things should not limit our fun abs enjoyment. I am sure that you all will have a great time

We had a good time on a recent trip to Memphis and Nashville with her and her sister. Sure, there were a few challenges but nothing terrible, and she mostly had a very good time. This should be extra fun for her as she has never been camping with us, and she gets a little nervous about the camper being behind us. But she will manage.

@porwest That's good to know. Having fun with closed ones is the best kind of rejuvenation. I am hopeful that this trip too would be easy and smooth for her

@arunima25 So far she seems to be handling things fairly well. Hopefully it stays that way. Glad to have her with us.

That's awesome that you are taking full advantage of ownership of the RV to do as much camping as possible. I would do the same. To me, there's just nothing better than a fun camping trip.

It's a very fun and relaxing time for us. Granted, it wears you out. By the time you get back you're just pounded. But it's every bit worth it.

That sounds like a wonderful way to wrap up the camping season. Having your mum along for her first camp will make it extra special, even if there are some challenges. I’m sure she’ll enjoy being with family in a different setting. The buddy site idea is perfect too – everyone gets their own space but still close enough to share the fun. Tires may be more expensive now, but peace of mind on the road is worth it. Sounds like you’ll have a great few days with your sister, brother-in-law, and even your dad dropping by. Enjoy every moment of it!

She had a great time. I was glad she was able to do it. There were some "issues," of course. But none that couldn't be dealt with.

I am happy she is with us too. The fresh air will do her some good, and she won't be able to complain about being stuck at home and bored. lol

Yep, they will be right next to us, door to door. A lot of campgrounds don't offer buddy sites, so this is nice when we have extended company.

I can totally relate. I’ll be taking my mom with me too when I go to the USA, so I know the feeling. My mom is 75, and traveling isn’t easy for her anymore, but it feels really special to have her with me.
