Do You Keep Your Bread On a Shelf or in the Refrigerator?

I didn't realize people kept their bread in the refrigerator. Why would you want cold bread?
It doesn't make it last any longer. In fact, it makes it go bad quicker.
Once, when I was 12, my mom kept the bread in the refrigerator because our apartment was roach-infested and it was the best way to keep it from getting invaded.
We don't buy bread anymore, but when we did, we kept it on a shelf in the pantry.

I keep mine in a bread box. What do you do if you want a sandwich?

We try to avoid carbs so we don't eat "sandwiches" Sometimes I'll grab two pieces of ham and a piece of cheese and roll it up and eat it without bread

My bread does not go bad quicker, it lasts longer in the fridge here.
If I leave it out, it gets moldy.
And it does not feel cold out of the fridge to us.

We keep bread in the fridge... It keeps it from going moldy as fast as keeping it outside the fridge. I like potato bread and it's always soft and delicious.

Just now
As someone who has lived in many different areas from poor to middle class, i know my family used to try and store anything that could be gotten by like mice in cupbords in the fridge. That is while living in poor areas where if your neighbor had anything by default your rowhome will also suffer. Thats the only reason I can think of, but I now keep it in a bread container out of the fridge if not just on top of the fridge.

@looeyville We use a bread bin. Putting it in the refrigerator makes it go soggy. We keep a loaf in the freezer from which we extract the number of slices we wish to toast.
