Officials with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) answered an emergency call on Thursday September 11 afternoon when a Cirrus SR22 aircraft that took off from an airport near Milwaukee Wisconsin fell into Lake Michigan with three persons aboard.
The USCG sent a helicopter and a 45-foot boat which is a single engine aircraft to rescue the three persons aboard the small aircraft and take them to a local hospital to be checked for injuries due to the crash.
The condition of the trio is not known. The cause of the airplane accident is being investigated by the authorities.

I am in agreement with you that people need to be careful while being aboard a small airplane.

Unless the people know what they're doing they should not be let out on the water,

In some ways, it was fortunate that the plane fell onto water and not onto land, as the crash lading might have been a lot worse then.

Water landings have a higher rate of survival than landings on land.
