It took longer

The trip to visit with my sister started at 10 and ended at 8 pm. I'm exhausted and I wasn't the one who dealt with traffic. We did stop for a quick lunch at a Thai cafe. Reality really smacked me when I decided it was time to leave: I realized that I couldn't just walk out. It was a lock down ward- just like a mental hospital. We were in jail until a staff member was found to let us out. Dear sister. Child like now. She loved the soft stuffy cat that I brought. She knew me. I am pretty sure she won't remember that I visited. She showed me her room. It was pretty big. Clean and cozy. Her green recliner was there and family photos. The room reminded me that I would go home to a house filled with stuff and dear to me furniture. Some day all that would need to be dealt with. I'm glad I went. Please hug your treasured family or those close to you- Fred cat is here purring sleepily. He agrees.

Even if it was exhausting, I'm glad you got the chance to go and visit her. I'm happy she has familiar things around her and things were clean. It's hard to realize family or friends or, even we could end up like that, too.

@sallypup You're welcome. Honestly, there's no telling, especially with the way things are going now.

Oh, it must have been rather hard for you. But I am so, so glad she knew you, even if she doesn't remember you were there. It's nice to know she is living in a pleasant place. I wish I knew more to say to help your heart as I know it had to be rather difficult for you.

After taking care of my mom with ALZ and Psychosis before she had to go to a nursing home, I'm sending you big hugs. It's all a big reality check to the system and mind. I'm glad you got to visit and that she remembered you.

I’m so glad you got to see her. I just want to cry when I read posts about loved ones with dementia. It’s so cruel.

@AmbiePam Thanks. And I thought zoos were bad- my sister having to be looked after is so weird.

Yeah, I think my mother-in-law is headed toward a Memory Care Unit which will undoubtedly be on lockdown
