Some roundabouts from Europe

A comment someone made today reminded me of the decorated roundabouts that we saw when we were touring in Europe. I think I might have written about some of these in Bubblews. I think most were in Germany but if anyone recognises any of these, it would be nice to have more information on them. I’ll write more about a couple of the more special ones. Some had signs which I can research but others I have no idea about. Just a bit of background: Our motor-home at the time was right-hand drive but when we went to France, Germany, etc, we had to drive on the, to us, ‘wrong’ side of the road. This meant that I was able to take photos as we drove around the roundabouts. Sometimes, if there was no traffic, we’d go round a couple of times while I tried to get a good shot.

Bubblews! Motor-home is so nice, I hope I can camp with my family using a motor-home or a camper van.

@JudyEv Wow that's so lovely! Do you cook even when the bus is moving? or it is kinda dangerous to cook while driving? That's awesome Judy!!! I like it, I think you and @porwest would have a lot to talk about about motor-home nd camper van.

@luisadannointed We don't cook when we're moving. It would be way too dangerous.

We converted a big bus into a motor-home once. We had a shower, toilet and washing machine.

Those pictures are amazing! I love them, and wish I had seen them in person. I hate roundabouts. I noticed them in Australia, but living here, I’ve only encountered two in all my years of driving. They make me so nervous!

This state seems to have fallen in love with roundabouts. They are popping up everywhere. A big one is not far from here.

@snowy22315 I didn't like them once but I guess I've got used to them now. The traffic mostly flows very smoothly here through the roundabouts.

I have been to all those countries you mention but did not come across any of what you have uploaded here.

Not every roundabout was decorated but a great many were.

I thought it was a lovely idea. Some were just planted with flowers and they were nice too.

Those are all interesting photos! I hate roundabouts! I will drive miles out of the way just so I don't have to try to figure them out!

I'm glad you like the photos. Our roundabouts are well-marked I think and the traffic mostly flows smoothly through them.

Maybe our roundabouts are so big. The only ones in Perth are two lanes only so that would make it easier.

Cool, but I would think having those around would be distracting. Often the traffic at roundabouts is pretty heavy.

I suppose so but being the passenger I was pleased to see them.

I hate roundabouts. But that would make them more interesting. I especially like the fountain.

I'm used to roundabouts now and they don't bother me. When they first came in I found them quite stressful.

I have never, so far, driven a right sided vehicle, but I have always wondered if it would be a bit disorienting getting around since everything would feel backwards.
