Well, No More Broken Bones, but I have Osteopenia

The podiatrist said my left foot wasn't fractured.
But he did say that I have osteopenia.
Osteopenia is a condition characterized by lower-than-normal bone mineral density, which can increase the risk of developing osteoporosis and fractures. (Medicine.net)
So lucky me.
He said I didn't have to wear my boot cast and could wear my new Hoka tennis shoes, which is great but I wish he'd have told me that BEFORE charging me $250+ for the boot cast, which I can't return, and I could have bought another pair of Hokas instead.
Then he put "heel wedges" in my shoes to help stabilize my feet.
That's how my day has gone so far.

Did he tell you to start taking Calcium and Vitamin D as well?
I'm glad you don't have any more broken bones and hope you heal quickly.

??? So you never had a broken bone? Is this guy the one who diagnosed it? Something really fishy there. Broken bones don't heal that fast. Either he is in incompetent or trying to make a buck..Either one not good.

I hope that he advised you of the pills to take to keep the osteopenia at bay and not to advance to osteoporosis.
I was diagnosed with severe osteop when I was 39 and have been taking calcium and D3 daily ever since.
Were the heel wedges due to the osteopenia or do you have heel spurs?

Always take care of yourself, bones are very delicate, and it is very important for us to live a normal life.
I hope you are starting drinking vitamins for bones, my sister and I are have prescriptions for that.

Sheesh, welcome to Monday.
Wonder how much of a kickback he got for that boot cast.
Osteopenia is common among us older ladies. Calcium with D3 should help, or at least that's what they put everyone else on.

I'm glad you have an answer. I have osteopenia in my right hip. No osteoporosis this time. I just have to continue taking my calcium and D3. Sorry about the boot cast.
