Too horribly hard

Remember those days of having to write a term paper that was written well enough to earn you a passing grade? Remember the dread and the misery?
That was me this morning. I have had a sweet friend for years and years. We have never met in person but we are sisters and have shared so much.
And my sister friend? Eeeek. A Trump supporter. We managed to skate through that- gingerly but we got there. She knows that I lean toward the Goddess and she leans very much toward evangelicism. Fine. For me, all life is sacred. Jesus is in there somewhere.
Then: boom. This Charley Kirk stuff. This morning she told me she is mourning him. That hit a sad and sour note for me. First time I heard of the guy was when he was killed. Then I looked up his beliefs. And quickly found that he is one of those who help to divide the U S.
I am sorry when anybody, human or animal, is killed and violently. I am not mourning this particular individual more than say, the current list of kids killed by gunfire. ALL life is sacred. The U S and the world in general needs less meanness and more civil discourse- listening to each other. The wanton going after the OTHER needs to stop. Which ever brand of OTHER bugs you. Stop harming and start tolerating.
So I sent her an email. Will I lose her? We'll see.

Oh, I hope not. Some of what Charlie said and believed was probably right, but so much was divisive. We do not need that.

@GardenGerty Interesting. Can you tell me what was probably right? I'm curious.

@allknowing I agree with you and I am ashamed about it- and you in another country.

It"s pretty disgusting most in the right want to make this guy a martyr. They need to familiarize themselves about what he truly said. It isn't pretty

@snowy22315 I agree. I have never understood my friend voting for such people. She is the sweetest person.

I hope you can work past this. I can't understand how a true Christian can support any of them

I don't know how anybody who is Christian could support Trump. But I do know that he had support among Evangelicals in the South. Like you, I had never heard of Charlie Kirk before he was murdered. I still have not had time to really research what he stood for. I admit that I was relieved when it turned out that his alleged killer was a Conservative kid from a good Mormon family. But I would not put it past Trump to flip the script and say he had been "radicalized" by Lefties, or some such. We live in odd times.

It's always hard to skate around someone who has different views that you do. I have several people here that are friends.....we avoid talking about politics because we are worlds apart. I hope you don't lose your friend.
