Lively and gluten free

Last night my house rocked. And we were gluten free! It was poetry reading night.
Three people graced our living room. Hubby and I feel blessed that these three showed up- quite the trio. One was the granddaughter, one the 85 year old and lively grandma and the last but not least, a new to them friend that they ferried to us. Granddaughter is in her 20's so she was the reason we had a rockin' good evening. She is able to drive after dark. She also needs gluten free treats. Grandmother made the chocolate chip cookies-without gluten. Very tasty. King Arthur flour. I looked it up- gluten free means I ate white and brown rice flour and tapioca starch. A little gritty but crave worthy.
Not just poetry. NO. Granddaughter showed me an intriguing sketch. She is making me a chicken wire ghost Victorian lady!!!! I hope I get more than super sketch. I told her that I will gladly pay her two hundred dollars for the piece. One of my core beliefs is that if possible, we must support the arts and especially give hope to the young aspiring artists. If she gets this Victorian lady done well, it actually will be worth more than two hundred dollars.
Here's to hope! And creativity. And friendship. And the written word. I hope my little house is starting to foster all of that and more.

That is so exciting! I can’t wait to see what she turns up with her talent. I’m getting happy just thinking about it.
I went gluten free for a few months to explore if it helped eliminate migraines (it did not). I got a cookbook for it, and the recipes were quite good.

@allknowing Thank you. I am sorry I confused you. It was my friend who was the Grandmother. Yes it was a happy gathering. My husband and I are working on borrowing the granddaughter!

Is that a club, a book reading club? I think that is so lovely, I hope I can join the same club.

@sallypup Wow!!!! I like that. i hope we have it here, but it seldom happens here. People are too busy at work and no time for that, but I guess there are some who do that, but not that popular here. I hope I can find one soon.

@luisadannointed How to put this? I am so embarrassed about my country at this point. If folks have any free time left after working to survive, it would be good for them to find peaceful ways to gather and be decent humans, sharing precious time.

@luisadannointed It is supposed to be a poetry reading group. People read their own poems or poetry that others have written and they liked. Or a person can come and listen. It's turning into more than that.

Glad you had such a great time, and glad the gluten free food was good. Probably delicious because it was homemade instead of what people buy in stores that's five times the price and five times less flavor.
