Yes, We Were Built on Immigration, But...Hear Me Out, Here—I Want You to Think About This From Another Perspective

I have no problem with immigration. In fact, I’m proud that my ancestors—German, Irish, British—made it to America. LEGALLY. That’s the key word here. Legal immigration built this country. Illegal immigration threatens to unravel it. We are a country of immigrants, yes. But we are not, and never have been, a country of illegal immigrants. That distinction matters. Without laws, borders, and accountability, you don’t have a country—you have chaos. Some might argue, “Well, the first settlers to America were illegal.” Fine. Let’s follow that logic. Look how that worked out for Native Americans. If we throw open the borders today and let anyone and everyone in, what happens to the United States? What happens to our economy, our security, our culture, our sovereignty? We’d risk losing everything. A nation without borders is like a house with no doors—anyone can walk in, take what they want, and leave you with the mess. That’s not compassion. That’s collapse. And maybe, just maybe, if things spiral far enough, we’ll be lucky if Mexico, or whoever wins the race to overrun us, lets us open a casino or two on their land. Sound far-fetched? So did a lot of things—until they happened. Legal immigration is a gift. Illegal immigration is a gamble. And the stakes are everything.

Most no one was. They did give illusions and made it seem worthy if you could pass their test. White people all failed but they go you white, unless you Irish. You good are you Irish, no,. you good, are you Irish, yeah, what of it, right here sir.

What is wrong with capitalism? It built the United States into the world's largest economy, and the world's wealthiest nation. Capitalism created nearly everything you have, own, or have the opportunity to achieve. Great industrial innovations were made through capitalism. Medical technology has advanced to increase lifespans through capitalism. Capitalism builds employment and investment opportunities beyond compare anywhere else in the world. You can own any business that operates that is publicly traded on the stock market. Nowhere else in the world does anyone have the opportunities that every single American enjoys today. And again, that's because of capitalism. And no nation has even come close to succeeding without at least some element of it. Take China, the world's 2nd largest economy by GDP. They ONLY achieved that status through adding capitalist elements to their economy. And even with that, their economy is less than half the size of the United States. As for people wanting to better their lives, there is a process for that just like anything. If you want to be a doctor, you go to college and do the work and time to become one. If you want to be a business owner, you come up with an idea and put it into motion to create it. If you want work of any kind, you apply for it and get hired. No one just barges into a business and says, "I now work here. Pay me." No one just opens a practice and calls themself a doctor. No one becomes a homeowner by breaking in to someone else's house. If someone wants something there is always a way to do it, and then there's a way NOT to do it. You don't just get to be something. You can't just suddenly claim to be something. You have to follow the correct path, follow the rules, and ACHIEVE it through a specified process. That's how it works in an organized, fair, and just world. Because if everything is up for grabs just because, it leaves everyone else truly putting in the effort behind. I want wealth, can I just walk into a bank and take it? No. I could provide a million examples. I hope some of what I have said here at least makes a modicum of sense to you.

@porwest Nothing is wrong with capitalism but like you always tell me its crony capitalism. These fools use greed and iimmigrants to get richer so they do not have to pay Americans fair wages. That's where I say we turned into a facist country.

@crossbones27 I never once told you about crony capitalism. I don't believe it exists except in poor people's minds who do not understand how wealth is created. As for paying people the lowest wage, it makes no sense the people who believe this. A business cannot succeed without people driving the machine. AND this is not a fascist country. Do you even know what that means? We are a democratic republic. We elect our leaders, and we can vote bad ones out. We decide where we shop, where we work, and what our own paths are. That's not fascism by any stretch of the imagination.

I understand that Americans need to secure first their people, and legal immigrants.

You cannot have a country without borders and laws. It's that simple.

My parents, brother, and I, and all our relatives came here from Belarus. We came here legally. We were lucky that we came directly to the US. Some people that came to this country from Eastern Europe had to go through Italy or other countries to come here. If we can do all that to start a new life here than why can’t others do the same. Why cross illegally?

@porwest So why don’t people do that? Why do they just cross the border illegally? Do they they think they won’t be granted entry if they do it the legal way?

@lovebuglena When the border is secure, they don't. When they fear no consequences, they come across. That's why border security and the threat of deportation is such an important part of the equation, here. If you knew you could rob a store day in and day out and no police would come after you... You'd clean out their register every single day.

I get why so many people want to come here legally OR illegally. It's the greatest country on the planet with the greatest opportunity to succeed. So, that part of it makes sense to me. But of course, we can't just let anyone in any time, for any reason, or by any means. There is a process, and just like if someone wants to become a doctor you have to go through a process... The same is true if you want to become an American and enjoy the benefits that go along with that.
