Wheee! I got a swim in today. Have you heard of the Polar Bear Club?

When I was growing up in Chicago, there were these crazy (mostly older, I think) dudes who would swim in Lake Michigan in the middle of Winter. No way. The coldest water I have ever swam in was in a lake in Glacier Park, Montana. Today I decided to brave the pool even though it was only 71 F out and sinking. The water was cool but I survived it, and did several laps. Do you think I deserve an honorary membership in the Polar Bear Club? Or maybe a Nobel Peace Prize?

No, a polar bear should at least get to nibble on you a bit.

I don't know that a polar bear would be satisfied with just a nibble.

That's still not cold enough for the club. I have no urge to get in very cold water

@wolfgirl569 Thank you. Do they have a Nobel Prize for feeding kitties?

Only if the orangetan one does... As I understand it, Polar Bear swims usually happen on New Years' Day.

Are you kidding for that. One time I was playing with Brooklyn my dog and she has such a powerful bite and I hugged her . I go thank you for not biting my finger off, see that is Nobel worthy.

That was a big thing when I lived in Wisconsin. I typically refer to those people as idiots.

I have heard of the Polar Bear Club and thought that was a New Year's Day thing. I bet the water felt good to you anyway.

I have taken cold plunges before and it is exhilarating. We have an outdoor above ground smaller pool in our backyard. A couple of years ago, I took a cold plunge right in the middle of Winter during February. It was refreshing.

I think not, 71 F is not so cool. People here usually go swimming in the lake Como the day after Christmas, usually outside is 32 F when they are lucky.

No. There would have to be ice on the water to qualify!!! Maybe a Nobel Prize in Literature.
