Maintenance finally showed up to fix the dishwasher

I called the management office on Thursday to get an update on the situation. She said that they would be here yesterday. Great. I was off yesterday so I was here when the head maintenance guy showed up. He replaced 2 of the spinning arm things and then noticed that the start button was blinking. He couldn't get it to start to even see if the spinning things worked. He turned off the circuit and then turned it back on and still blinking. He said "they didn't tell me it was blinking". Then he couldn't see what brand of dishwasher it was and asked to use the flashlight on my phone to see inside. Wait. What? How did you order replacement spinning things when you didn't know what brand the thing was? So he left and said "I have to go look this up". That was at like 11am. Didn't see him again. So it is another weekend without a working dishwasher which is a ginormous PITA for someone who cooks and bakes so much. I predict that they will just replace the thing. It was replaced in 2022 but this is what happens when you buy and install the cheapest appliances. The most-used thing in this joint is the dishwasher. We'll see how much longer it takes to get a functioning dishwasher in here. My bet is 2 weeks.

Broken appliances are the pits. They should have maintenance records of the brands and model numbers. I am surprised they do not. 24 years is a pretty good lifespan for a dishwasher, I would think.

Sorry to learn that your dishwasher is not working properly.

My last one was automatically replaced when I said it was broken. They knew they bought cheap crap so they automatically knew it was time to replace. Same with the three refrigerators I’ve had for the last couple decades.

What a frustrating runaround! It's unbelievable he showed up without even knowing the brand—that's Maintenance 101. Your prediction of a full replacement sounds spot on, especially with it being a cheaper model. Hope they get it sorted for you much faster than two weeks!

So frustrating! Keep calling and bothering them, maybe it will wake them up, this is ridiculous. Or better yet, tell them since your rent includes a working dishwasher, you will be paying less next time it's due, because they are not providing the maintenance to fix or replace it!
