“You’re the Nearest Thing to Heaven” is a wonderful and sweet love song. It was co-written by Johnny Cash and released as a single in August 1958. The other two song authors, I think some might recognize by name; they were Hoyt Johnson and Jimmy Atkins. This was considered one of the finest songs that year on the country chart. It was about the many wonderful things that God has created, but according to the singer, the woman he loves is the nearest thing to Heaven on Earth as far as he is concerned.
Since I knew that my father felt this way about my mother, I chose to put in a photo of my mom, Elvira. Can you imagine when this photo was taken my mom was 70 years old? She always looked younger than her years.

@Juliaacv she was just awesome and if life had not been so cruel to her with WW II and losing dad so young I could just picture her on the big screen in Hollywood.

@Marilynda1225 I always thought she would live to at least 100 but the Lord had other plans, Thank heavens I took her to her homeland Latvia at least she was back in her beloved Riga and lived only two years after we arrived,

She is very pretty, I think all moms look mean, or have that stern look. Its not easy running a family, why I am always careful around people's moms. They can smell me from a mile away though and most end up loving me. To the ones that understand us, great song to match what you wrote.
