Caravan Parks in Australia - Part Two

Carrying on from my last post about caravan parks, in many areas there are places where you can ‘free camp’. In some you need to be self-sufficient meaning you have to have your own toilet, water supply and waste water storage unit. If a place has a composting toilet, you might be able to put your tent up there. You’d still need your own water.
Ablution blocks vary from great to pretty ordinary. There might be separate toilets and showers or both combined in the one room. Some have a laundry which may or may not have coin-operated washing machines and dryers. The better ones also have ‘camp kitchens’ with some sort of cooking facilities and sinks, tables, chairs, etc. And maybe a fridge.
The photo shows part of the caravan park at Mukinbudin. Sections are marked off and you are allocated a ‘spot’. You might be able to see cement standings which aren’t meant to be parked on but to provide a level floor if you put out the shade from the side of your caravan or motor-home.

I like the pop-up orange van in the picture. I’d just be afraid that my back would act up and I couldn’t get down from the bed!
We have free camping in BLM (Bureau of Land Management) places, national forests, and other places. We also have expensive RV parks in places. It seems,so that yours and ours both run the gamut!

I didn't think to point out the orange van but you saw it anyway. We're lucky in that we have a good bed and can stand up easily in our motor-home. It's lucky we don't have to sleep in the bed above the cabin as we'd never manage clambering up and down the ladder.

I did a lot of camping back in the days of Girl Scouts, as was the leader for 1 year and the troop loved to camp. Had several big tents, so everyone fit. Sometimes miss camping, but so many places near me are expensive now.

@JudyEv That is the only way I would camp now.

@Fishmomma If we had to sleep on the ground now we'd be battling to get up off it in the morning.

Thank you for the informative post. It seems like the US has similar campgrounds.

Camping is popular here. Some have tents but others have motor-homes or caravans.
