I have never seen this before here, but when friend and I came back from errands there were a group of 8 to 10 wild turkeys in the yard! What a greeting. The irony of this was I was just telling friend I saw a few the other day down by the highway after your turn to get into the development! I ran out to take a picture, but by the time I got my camera ready they dispersed into the woods and I tried to find them to take a pic, and they had moved on already! That is not something you see everyday. I remember one year when I first moved here though..there were like 5 pheasants some of them ringneck walking up the driveway, That was a trip. Do you ever see gamebirds around where you are?

Are they native to the region? I have a friend who has white peacocks.

@snowy22315 - Peacocks were imported to Italy from Asia since the times of ancient Romans. There are many here in the north of Italy, they live in the beautiful gardens of the large historic mansions around Lake Como.

@snowy22315 I wonder if their increased presence this year is indicative of some weather related stuff. It also seems there are lots of bears this year.

I guess there are certain pockets of to them. I used to have one that nested behind my house..but a fix was always harassing it.

I am going to have to look at what a group of turkeys is called. I know a group of geese in a gaggle. I forgot usually just called a flock.

Turkeys are fairly common here, but unusual to see a big flock in the yard.

No we don’t see game birds close to where we live ……sometimes when we are out we might see something that has been killed ….usually pheasant, squirrel or very rarely a deer.

When I lived in southern Illinois, I saw wild turkeys a lot. The would even waddle out to country roads and take their time to get across. We had two eagles here the other day down by the pond. Hadn’t seen one here in some time, usually I see them out in the country, but not in town here.

There are eagles around here, but it's more common to see hawks.
