Favorite Dishes to Cook

October 13, 2025 11:03pm CST
I have never really been an individual who enjoys cooking. I cook so I don't go hungry and for survival. I wouldn't say I'm a bad cook per se but I am not the best. I have recently started trying to find ways to make cooking more enjoyable for me so it doesn't seem like such a task. One of the dishes that I love to make is chicken. You can bake it, fry it, grill it and season it so many different ways and I love that you can try different sides with it. My favorite thing to cook is baked chicken with corn, mashed potatoes and green beans. It's my go to meal for Sunday dinner now.

I am one with you. Right now, I don't even cook. I am lucky my DIL is good at it. Good luck with your cooking journey.

Chicken forms the protein basis of many of my meals: from roast dinners to pastas and curries. Still reasonably cheap here in the UK. Especially compared to beef. P.S. I love the name “Hannah”! Not only is it a palindrome, but it uses 3 double letters. How fantastic is that?

So I knew my name was a palindrome but NEVER realized it uses 3 double letters

I like fried chicken and baked chicken. Some times a friend gives us a chicken from the Deli he works at. All I have to do is add the sides and we have a good meal.

Oh I love that for you especially because that chicken from the deli is always so delicious. Never fails.

That is a comfort meal I love too. I cook more chicken than anything and use it in soups, wraps, tacos, and anything else easy I can think of. I can cook but really only like to make one or two good meals a week and do leftovers into something easy. Tomorrow, I'll make a huge soup with stew meat this time, lots of veggies, seasonings, etc. I'll be sick of it by the third day but there is the freezer.

I am the main cook in the house, and because you have to do it every day, it CAN become a chore at times. But mostly I enjoy cooking. I make all kinds of dishes. Soups. Stir-fries. Casseroles. Braised pork. Baked chicken. Pretty much the gamut. As far as ideas, one thing I can assure you is that food and dinner posts abound here, so if you're ever out of ideas, spend enough time on here and you'll have a long list of them. lol
