This is so cool. I did not know there was such a thing as a white Monarch butterfly, but apparently there is, and one was seen in Kansas. The article indicates the photo was taken by Amanda Gehin Missouri Dept. of Conservation FOX4 News Kansas City @topfans This makes me wonder if there are other butterflies that present with a different coloration, and also if there is a version perhaps with black or dark coloration. There are several different reports. The description on one of the Facebook posts says that sometimes they look pinkish where the orange would be and that on the island of Oahu they make up about 10% of the population. On the mainland Monarchs migrate to Mexico for the winter.
