As Time Goes By

Whenever I see a piano or a photo of a piano the song “As Time Goes By” from the classic movie “Casablanca” starring Humphrey Bogart comes to mind. The song was written by Max Steiner and in the movie was sung by Dooley Wilson who portrayed Sam the Piano Player. One version of this song was sung by Rudy Vallee in 1931 and in 1932 this song became a number one hit for him.
You might wonder which version is my favorite. Well of course this song is great when it is sung by Wilson in the movie but my favorite is the one sung by Harry Nilsson.

Rudee Vallee was great and was often performing with Jimmy Durante. Both were great. That song is too.

@RasmaSandra ......Oh, yes. I can remember many live performances on television back in the 50s. I recall many sketches done by a trio of Steve Allen, Don Knotts and dear old Louie Nye. All hilariously funny.

I just love the song. It has been used here as a theme tune for a sitcom ….not sure who sang it though.
