Lumping barley in the old days

So here’s another scene from the museum in Westonia, Western Australia. This shows a farmer in typical clothing ready to hump a bag of wheat onto a truck. My father never wore overalls but the truck is typical of one we had. At the back of the tray is a knapsack, a unit which could be used to put out fires, albeit very small ones. Farmers would carry one of these in case a spark from a machine started a fire. I was impressed that the truck was standing in a crop of barley. Maybe they starched the stalks to make them stand up like they are. (That’s a joke.)

@JudyEv It does make it look odd. Plus if he did drive into the field you would see the tire tracks

That's clever although it bothers me that the truck is parked in the barley. Surely no farmer would do that??
