A whole lot of bull

This statue stands in the main street of Quairading in Western Australia's wheatbelt area. Isn’t this a magnificent specimen of a bull? Look at the fire in his eyes! It wasn’t until I got close to him that I realised he’s been created from scrap metal. But hasn’t it been well done? I hate to be picky but this bull is pacing, meaning that both right legs are back and both left legs forward. Cattle don’t run like that. The limbs move diagonally so right foreleg and left hindleg move forward together followed by left foreleg and right hindleg. I wonder why the creator did this. Maybe he/she just doesn’t understand cattle very well. It’s still a very powerful creation.

You guys have a whole lot of specimen that can kill a person. You think a little bull is going to scare me off. Giant spiders, lizards, and Crocodiles sure, Now we know why Australia does not have a immigration problem, but to be fair a little bull, Can I self deport to Australia. Texas has big bulls and they hate punk rockers.

If you once came to Australia, you'd never want to go home.

@crossbones27 I think we are slowly going downhill too. I'm glad I'm heading out of the world and not just starting out. Glad you enjoyed Australia too.

As you mentioned the legs I noticed that it's not correct for a bull, but it's anyway impressive.

@JudyEv - I do not think so, the sculptor had to check better.

@LadyDuck People who create things need to get their facts right. I don't like reading novels where facts are incorrect either.

I can't imagine the sculptor would do this intentionally.

That is a very cool statue. With all the wheels and different things used. Perhaps the creator did the legs this way because there was an issue with the weight and being able to make it all come together right.

That crossed my mind too. I'll give them the benefit of a doubt.

That may be the only way they could have made it with the weight of the materials and whatnot. Despite that, I agree that it’s quite impressive artwork!

I wondered about that but there would still be four points of contact. It certainly looks very heavy.

He certainly looks very feisty. I'm not sure why a bull has been chosen for this position.

We had a bull once. Of course, it wasn’t as striking as this one.

We always had bulls running with our herd of cows. The Friesian bull was kept in a strong yard and couldn't be trusted but later we had beef cattle and a much quieter Hereford bull.

It is certain that the creator didn't know how a bull's limbs moved when they were pacing. However so did I.

Some horses are trained to move this way ie pace. We have 'meets' here where the horses pull light sulkies and compete against each other. For some reason we talk about 'going to the trots' even though the horses actually pace.
