The annoying part of yesterday and today at work

Yesterday I was checking my work email on my lunch and found an email from the building supervisor. It said something to the effect of: "Good morning NJChicaa. (building principal) and I would like to meet with you tomorrow. Please come to the main office at 8:15am during your prep period. You are always welcome to bring representation if you feel the need." My anxiety level shot up. There are times when things happen or there are situations where I can figure out what those types of meetings are about but I truly had no idea what it could be this time. I immediately went to the head building rep's classroom to tell him about it and ask him to attend with me. (he has been very helpful in the past) He said he would and asked what I thought it could be about. I said I truly had no clue. He was angry because he has asked the principal to at least include "re: grading" or "re: parent conference" or something so we know what we are walking into. So I had to go from 11am yesterday to 8:15am today wondering and worrying and stressing about it. I had a 90 minute massage booked for right after work yesterday and I figured I'd might as well just set a $100 bill on fire because I wouldn't be able to relax. (eventually I did even if just for a bit) It was on my mind all night. I could have thrown up walking to the office with the building rep. I won't bore you with the details of what it was about. Yes it was a valid issue but not about something that I had done wrong or was in trouble for. If he had just given me a clue I wouldn't have been so anxious about it. It is completely unfair and downright mean to do that to an employee. It is like torture. I will say that the building rep had emailed the principal to request yet again that they tell us what the meeting is regarding. When I got there he apologized for not letting me know what it was about. So that is hopefully done and he informs other teachers what these surprise conferences are about.

That would have driven me nuts. I would have been angry too, and they certainly did owe you an apology for not clarifying.

That totally stinks. I would be like you and anxious, and all for no reason. It is like he was enjoying a little "power trip" at your expense.

If he does it again, maybe you should get some of those nice "Jersey boys" to educate him re: proper meeting requests... (Yeah, I'm feeling feisty today.)

That kind of thing would scare the poop out of me. I have been a victim of discrimination in the past. Ialways try to tread lightly and stay "out of trouble"

That's an awful thing to do to an employee. Some people have no idea about 'walking in another's shoes'. I'm glad it turned out okay.
