More info on George's so-called surgery.

We got a conformation document about next month's procedure. It's nothing I didn't already know. Fasting before hand, don't take his blood thinner two days prir... but I find it interesting, the 'you must have a driver' line. It claims that the person (in this case George), can't take an Uber, bus or taxi home.
Um... yes he can. Why? Because I won't leave him alone. While I can't be in the GI suit, itself.... I won't be leaving his side before or after the procedure. I'll be ordering the rides, I can help him in and out of any vichel and I'll be by his side helping him recover. And, the staff know it. Or the ones I've talked to do.
Should be fun to see what happens.

I think the concern is, the person maybe unstable after coming out from under sedetation. Idealy, you have someone with you for the first twenty-four hours after any procedure using anathisia in case you're unstable.

@kaylachan - I remember that they kept my husband overnight when we had surgery. I went to get him the morning after with a taxi.

@LadyDuck This is supposed to be an outpatient procedure. I doubt he'll be kept overnight unless they struggle or do something stupid, like stick the endoscopy up his nose.

Maybe they think he is gonna be really out of it. Is this tube removal surgery or what?

@snowy22315 Yes. However, I won't know until the end, if a new one is put in it's place.

They use the term "surgury" in the loose sense. They'll be using general anthesia and possible intabation for about ten to twenty minutes or so.

Form letters, standard operating procedure, etc. but you are more to George than any driver would be. You will take care of him.

Yeah, I am. I have been since before the stroke. When it came to medicine, medical, or anything. He'd bounce things off of me. Often getting annoyed at times, but followed my advice. I also respected his decisions, too. I've been helping him make well-informed choices, even when I can't get him to understand.

When hubby had his cataracts removed the paperwork said the same but they explained that they meant not by himself. It's to protect the patient while they might not be fully aware yet. As you will be with him it isn't a problem. You are the driver, person in charge.
