Halloween and pumpkins go hand in hand. I've shared some facts I thought interesting: * Morton, Illinois is the pumpkin capitol of the world. The town produces about 85% of the world’s canned pumpkin, and 95% of that produced in the United States. * At the 50th Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off in October 2023 the largest pumpkin weighed in at 2,749 pounds (that's 1246.9 kilograms). This weigh in was verified by the Pumpkin Commonwealth. * On September 9, 2010, in Mohab, Utah an air cannon flung a pumpkin 5,545.43 feet (1,690.24 meters) This was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records and is recognized as the official record for the greatest distance a pumpkin has been projected. * Pumpkins are technically fruit and come from the same family as melon and cucumbers. * Every part of the pumpkin is edible. This includes the skin, leaves, flowers, pulp, seeds and stem. They are composed of about 92% water.

The only inedible part of a pumpkin is the stalk. I planted pumpkins because I love the flowers, we make fritters with pumpkin flowers. We only pick up "male flowers", they do not produce fruits.

Interesting. We just bake the seeds and add some seasoning. They are very tasty.

We usually carve a couple each year. We also bake the seeds and eat them. They are very tasty.

Pumpkin is taken as a vegetable in India. We cook them as a curry or fry them as chops.
