Halloween and pumpkins go hand in hand. I've shared some facts I thought interesting:
* Morton, Illinois is the pumpkin capitol of the world. The town produces about 85% of the world’s canned pumpkin, and 95% of that produced in the United States.
* At the 50th Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off in October 2023 the largest pumpkin weighed in at 2,749 pounds (that's 1246.9 kilograms). This weigh in was verified by the Pumpkin Commonwealth.
* On September 9, 2010, in Mohab, Utah an air cannon flung a pumpkin 5,545.43 feet (1,690.24 meters) This was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records and is recognized as the official record for the greatest distance a pumpkin has been projected.
* Pumpkins are technically fruit and come from the same family as melon and cucumbers.
* Every part of the pumpkin is edible. This includes the skin, leaves, flowers, pulp, seeds and stem. They are composed of about 92% water.

Interesting. We just bake the seeds and add some seasoning. They are very tasty.

We usually carve a couple each year. We also bake the seeds and eat them. They are very tasty.

Pumpkin is taken as a vegetable in India. We cook them as a curry or fry them as chops.
