More than two dozen states, including Kansas, have filed a lawsuit seeking to force the Trump administration to replenish SNAP benefits
I do not know which states are standing up to Trump, but this is necessary. I know people don't all agree, but not having some kind of food benefits in place hurts vulnerable people.
Our representatives need to speak up and actually represent us.

The ballroom is not funded with taxpayer money. SNAP is. The Democrats have the power to fix this. They won't do it. So...
And by the way, the ballroom will cost roughly $200 million. There are 42 million Americans on SNAP. If you directed every penny of the ballroom cost to SNAP recipients, each person would get $4.76. lol
Thus...that's not a very smart idea to fix the issue or help anyone.

@porwest A lot of us look at the ballroom and other remodeling projects as symbolic waste. I know it does not light a candle to the funds spent on SNAP. I also know that not all of the benefits are used wisely, but I still also know children and the elderly are going without.

@BarBaraPrz I just hope some part of the country survives these four years.

@GardenGerty Yes, someone should have done something when he started to rip up the Rose Garden... or maybe earlier.

My heart breaks for those who will go without their grocery money. I pray that they get it and quickly.

The courts say the contingency funds must be used so people will get those benefits. Maybe by the time that is used up the government will be open again.

The professional politicians on both sides need to remember that they serve the people.

Trump did not shut down the government. The Democrats did. So, blaming Trump for anything that happens because of the government shut down is...
Ridiculous.
The Democrats shut it down. The Democrats have the power to reopen it. The Republicans nor President Trump can do that unless the Democrats offer up the 7 votes we need for that to happen.

The problem with this effort is where it passes the blame. Who shut down the government? The Democrats. Who can reopen the government? The Democrats. So, why is the blame and the onus being passed to Trump who has nothing to do with it?
People need to direct their attention appropriately, and rather than point to the person who ISN'T the problem, instead focus on who IS, and get THEM to do the right thing.
This is really misplaced anger and barking up the wrong tree.

To me it is the entire government complicit. Refusing to work together for the people.

@GardenGerty But ask yourself why the Republicans won't make the compromises the Democrats want. Do you even know what the argument is about? I don't think many people really understand this, other than what they hear, which is often not true.
Hint: It has NOTHING to do with healthcare.
