            Beau Teak kitty went in for his chest fluid tap yesterday. He is such a trooper. It appears that he didn't have as much fluid this time so the water pills must be helping. He is still lively. He will have another tap done in a month.
I also took Rufus dog in for his vaccinations. The Vet didn't have his past records like they were supposed to so they just did the most important one- his rabies. He stayed at my left side and nervously minded me nicely. I gave him chewy cat treats for a reward every so often. I also had the helper trim his nails cause they are getting so tough and he really needed the trim.
It's just the way of things- Rufus is still barky and up and at 'em. He also is starting to want to lie down on his side and have some deep naps. He is a Rescue Boy. We really don't know his age. The want to sleep behavior is telling me that he may be older than I'm guessing. I get deeply weary of his commanding barks but I also dread the day he is no longer with us.

                    I'm glad Beau seems to be doing better. I'm glad Rufus is getting better at minding you in difficult situations.

                            @sallypup You're welcome.
It would have seemed more natural to me to take his leash instead of putting a loop over his head... I'm glad he did well without you.

                            @DaddyEvil Thanks. The clinic insisted they had to take Rufus in the back, away from me. The helper started to toss a loop over his head even though he had his leash and collar already. He backed in fear. I told her she was making it worse so just take the leash. The two came back to me, both doing okay. She said he "was super sweet and kept kissing them." I hope it wasn't just hype. Rufus didn't appear to be upset. He is the best dog ever when it comes to walking nicely on a leash.

                            @DaddyEvil People working with animals should be aware that animals generally don't like things going over their heads. It's what you do when you are dealing with a wild one and it's an emergency.

I understand your feelings for Rufus. Duke now sleeps most of the day and night. I got tired of the constant attention seeking and now miss it

                            @sallypup I think my big brute is giving up. He seems very restless today. He is 13 which is very old for a doberman.

                    I can relate to what you are saying since it is hard to see your pets getting old.

                    I have had several rescue dogs over the years that guessing their ages, even by the vet, was close to impossible. I am of the opinion that rescue pets are the best pets ever! I am glad your BeauTeak Kitty is doing so well and he is lively.

                            @MarieCoyle I admire you that you have rescued dogs. I can't imagine fostering anybody. I'd fall in love and have more of a zoo. Thanks for your well wishes about Beau. The helper couldn't figure how to say Beau so she called him "Boo." Made me laugh.

                            @sallypup
I can't tell you how many times I became a ''foster failure mom'' and couldn't give them up. I had to really work at it and it was hard to overcome. I finally realized after some years of rescue work that I just couldn't personally save them all, feed and vet them, etc. and it would not be fair to do that anymore. No, it wasn't easy. But I had to do that.
I got to the point that I would overnight one or two and I drove what was called ''rescue runs'' which meant that the animal had a home waiting, but had to be transferred from point A to point B. The routes often covered several states or a long haul...so a coordinator would chop up the routes, and rescue runners would volunteer for a run, you meet up with the next driver, who meets up with the next one...you get the picture. It worked, not easy but so many people were so dedicated to help the animals get to their new homes.
