How old is too old?

First off, I do not participate in "Trick or Treat" because the way my property is I would be afraid someone would hurt themselves, and I do not have any little kid neighbors. I used to make Halloween goody cups with candy, pencils, etc. for the one family close to us.
That being said, I see people only either complaining about kids being too old to be trick or treating, or saying to just give everyone candy and do not be mean.
Kids, even big kids, like Halloween and pretending, and dressing up and using their creative imaginations.
For the last three years our local High School has put on a Trunk or Treat for our elementary students.
They decorate their cars, they plan games, they give treats and they dress up. It is not mandatory that they do this, but it is fun for them and for the younger kids.
I think it is a great way for them to participate and share the joy.

I remember in high school a friend and I dressed up and went trick or treating. It was fun.

I always loved dressing up. I do not remember when I stopped. I even used to dress up to pass out the candy.

I won't give to adults. They can go buy their own. But teenagers never bothered me. And often they are with younger siblings or cousins so deserve to be treated good. But even just a group of teenagers can get candy

@GardenGerty We actually had one couple that every year supposedly knew a sick kid that they were doing it for. This couple never handed out either.

Yeah, people should get in the spirit of fun.

I know it differs from one country to the next. More or less now communities look for any excuse for a festival. So they have parties and trunk or treat.

@GardenGerty - Treat or tricks and trunk or treat do not exist. Kids do not go around asking for candies. It's only a party inside the school for the kids.

I was 12 or 13 the last time I went. When my son was in high school the high schoolers still went. I would be okay with teenagers coming for candy.

Before the city banned trick or treat here, I gave candy/toys to whoever showed up and rang our doorbell. (Some years I bought light sticks and gave those to the kids so they weren't in danger from stupid drivers that night. Other years I bought small flashlights or super balls to give as treats. It just depended on what I felt like passing out on Halloween.)
Now, people are restricted to trick or treating to the stores in our downtown areas so we never see anyone trick or treating house to house.
I went to sleep around 3 pm and woke up at midnight. I forgot to shut off our outside lights but Pretty said nobody showed up anyway. (We didn't buy candy to give out but I almost always have Tootsie Rolls in my bedroom she could have given out if somebody did show up.)

So I guess that ban has been difficult to enforce?

@GardenGerty I don't know. We don't see trick or treaters on our street.

I think our schools have fun trying to connect the community. Middle school kids have been doing "rake and run" and some classes from the high school brought pumpkins for kids to paint. Other clubs delivered "boo grams" of tootsie pops dressed as ghosts.

There is no to old, its just what you can sell you your friends. I can put the world on notice, but my friends hate when I do that so I never do, unless its called for.

No one is ever too old, In my young adulthood I love to dress up and go to bars where they had contests for best costumes,

I agree, it would be great if high schools here start to do the same.

When everything is hanging like the last turkey in the butchers then you are old
