Albany Police Department Officer Fitzgerald will simply say he was doing his duty to serve the community and he does not want to thought of as a hero when he answered an emergency call on Thursday night October 30 when a nine month old lost consciousness and stopped breathing.
Officer Fitzgerald used his first aid skills to pat the baby's back by tapping the back so that the food could come out of its throat and breathe once again.
Firefighters from the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel came to take the baby to Albany Medical Center to be treated for the swallowing of the food particle.
It is nice to see police officers being recognized for saving lives in the line of duty.

As a preschool teacher, I had practice for infant CPR many times.

That is true since it gives the police a great name for a change instead of the dark side of their profession.

The officer deserves a pat on his back too, for saving the baby's life like that.
