Honesty in Writing a Diary

Honestly, I used to write in my diary. But then, I stopped doing it. One of the reasons I do not want somebody to accidentally read my journal. There was also one time that I tried to write through the use of Russian characters. In this way, no one will know what is going on in my life. Can you be completely honest with yourself when writing in a diary? Image Credit: play-lh.googleusercontent.com

I have never kept a diary, so I have no idea if I would be honest in it or not. I would assume I would be, though.

I used to have mine, but I discontinued it for personal reasons. I must say that I was not fully honest writing about my life in them.

@Shavkat The worst betrayal is one we portray on ourselves. If there has been one goal in life I have had, it has been to be brutally honest with myself even when it hurts.

I've never written a diary but I think I could be honest with myself if I did write one. I don't think Pretty would invade my privacy by reading whatever I write. I hope you've been doing okay... You were gone for a while and I worry about you.

I could be honest if no one will dare to read it. I am quite busy with a new mobile app these days. You can visit me there if you want. We can talk.

When I was very young, I was totally open and honest in my diary. As I got older I become more cautious and then just stopped writing in a journal totally.

During my high school days, I was so honest with my writings in my diary. When I entered university, I needed to filter things out. I am quite scared that someone might read things happening in my life.

I can understand. Writing in a journal is not for everybody, like my younger siblings. They never did this.

I used to keep a diary in my college days. That helped me to improve my writing skill and inner self. I have abandoned diary writing long ago.

I must say that I started to polish my writing skills when doing my personal diary from my high school days to university. Now, I stopped doing it because of personal reasons.

Technically, I considered myLot as my personal journal. However, I only share some parts of the story of my life. Considering that no one knows me personally here, however, I cannot push myself to share everything about what is going on in my life.

If you know my eldest sister, she always wrote a diary, but after having children, she stopped writing. And I accidentally read her diary, it's all there.

Not really, especially in these days when it seems is everyone want to find every private detail, not because its corrupt and harmful against someones family because they just simply want to embarrass people because you do not agree with what they agree with. Its sad and a small way to live.

When I was still writing a diary, I'm always honest in writing what happened to me that day. I wrote a diary for me to look back and check what happened, it keeps my memories whether good or bad. If i lie in my diary, then what's the purpose of writing one? now that im grown up i kept my diaries and sometimes i would read it even in front of my siblings and we would just laugh out loud because everything i wrote in my diary were all funny.

It is nice that you can share your diary's contents with your siblings. We tend to be secretive when it comes to sharing our inner thoughts with others.

@Shavkat because majority of my diary's content were my siblings. how they bullied me (they alwasy tease me when i was kid) i wrote everything that happened (maybe its because im a child and writing a diary is my way to rant) so whenever i saw it i would really read it infront of my siblings and my parents and told them (that's how you two, treat me when i was a kid, so its payback time!, im going to bully your children too!) then we will all laugh so hard. now that they have kids too, i would still read it in front of them and told them (that's how your mother treat me when i was a kid, so be ready, because I'm gonna take my revenge too!, I'm going to bully you too!) then they would run to their moms for help. And my mom and I would just laughing out loud.
