I posted in October that my neighbours sister and her son were moving in across the road from my Mom . The neighbour and his father live there. The family have lived there longer than us and we moved in 50 years ago. We know them well. The father now has dementia and the son is his carer ….they also have professional carers going in four times a day.
Anyway, when my Mom saw the son Andrew, a couple of weeks ago he said that they were moving in any day .
Since then nothing …..
This morning about 9.30 three police cars arrived with the son…..in his pj’s and dressing gown, and two dogs. There were two policewomen, one on each side of him practically carrying him into the house.
A short while later , somehow, we didn’t see, the daughter’s car appeared.
The police stayed several hours and of course we knew that there was a problem.
We have since found out that the sister , Jackie, collapsed at home this morning and was taken to hospital.
Sadly she died.
They are a lovely family and sometimes it is heartbreaking to think how much some people have to go through.
The father has dementia and the son looks after him, now he has to take on the nephew who has autism and two dogs and the sisters husband who due to ill health is in a nursing home, and now make funeral arrangements for his sister.
Sometimes life is so cruel.

That is sad. I hope the son can manage okay with the added burden of taking care of his nephew now, too.

@Traceyjayne When my dad was being abusive when I was growing up, one of my brothers punched him. I saw nothing wrong with that in the '70s and still feel that way today. A person who is being abusive to their child(ren) needs to be punched!
Of course, I have no idea what happened in their household and neither do you.
When I was living with my mom and taking care of her, she didn't like something I said and swatted my butt. I picked her up, turned her over my knee and paddled her while telling her not to ever touch me again. And I meant it! I was in my thirties at the time. Mom called my oldest brother and told him to get me out of her house. My brother asked what she'd done to make me mad. Mom wouldn't answer him but, since he was on speakerphone, I told him. He told mom to keep her hands to herself and refused to find someone else to help her around the house. He told her we were both adults and should be able to live together without getting physical with each other.
I will argue with Pretty but have never raised a hand toward her and, if she knows what's good for her, she'll never lay a hand on me in anger, either.

@DaddyEvil I think it is probably connected to his autism …..like you say , we don’t know ….

That's really, really sad but what a huge burden for the brother/son/uncle/BIL. I hope he'll be able to cope.

We honestly don’t think he will cope. We are just across the road if he needs us.

That is so sad; and I'm so sorry for their loss. The burden of a caregiver can be massive; and I hope the son can handle everything.

That's really sad and devastating. In this age of inflation he has to take so much of responsibility.
