Bright and sunny out, today will be a warm day for November. If my device is still charged I may do some weed whacking. The train trip yesterday was not that impressive, friend wasn't a fan either. First of all it left too late in the day, and secondly, Just after getting underway we were delayed by two train sthat wanted to pass, in a very unscenic place. The food wasn't that great, and although we did see some mountains in the distance which were nice, and fun to see..it was too dark to see any leaf color. There was interesting commentary on tthe train too. I also saw the backside of some communities that I thought were very small, but they ended up having vibrant downtown areas. The trip probably would have been a lot better when we were first schecheduled to go, on the other route. Oh well, live and learn. .

Sorry that it didn't go the way it was planned and scheduled. At least you got some interesting commentaries and beautiful mountains to see.

@snowy22315 Yes, an outing is always better. And I am sure that despite it not going the way you expected it to be, you would have enjoyed the time with your friend chit chatting.

I am sorry it was a disappointment. Leaving so late in the day would definitely have it's issues with me, too. The only short train excursion I have been on in the dark was the Polar Express, two years ago. My daughter and son in law took me, and his parents on that trip. It's horribly expensive, but they really wanted to go and wanted to treat us. It was so, so fun!

They are having a Santa Express train leaving this community, they just re opened a train station. It is 65 dollars, which isn't horrible, but not sure I could take a train trip packed with kids. That seems like it would only be fun if I had grands or something. However, seeing all the decorated houses would be nice. So many things to sprend money on at Christmas..probably isn't going to go to that.

I know the Polar Express is so expensive. When they start booking tickets for it in early fall, it books solid for all of it's runs in about an hour. Crazy! But when we went, there were a ton of adults, seniors, etc. And the littles that were there were just so fascinated with everything, they didn't talk much. It really was special. Songs, dancing in the isles by ''elves'', and such...just fun times.

Gets cold here starting Monday I think..not looking forward to that, but I don't think it will last more than a week or so. I notice it looks super warm out west so we may get that later..and probably cold for Thanksgiving.

It was kind of neat from that perspective. Other than commuter trains, friend says he hasn't been on a train since he was young. I have several times though.

We'll find something..but next fall maybe a park near Cumberland Gap will be on tap or a trip to the Smokeys. We will see, no shortage of things to do really.
