An Ambassador Named Rieka

Rieka has been a wolf ambassador for the International Wolf Center for four years. She is one of the foundation's most social animals. In her actions she shows that wolf stereotypes just aren't true. She does this by nuzzling packmates, demonstrating complex bonds, and nurturing others in the pack. She teaches us that wolves deserve our respect, not our fear. The picture is from wolf.org

If wolves want our respect and not our fear, then Rieka's wild cousins need to stop killing our farm animals and stop hunting humans who get lost in the woods.

You sound like a cattleman. They are wild animals and will kill another animal to survive. As far as killing humans this is very rare. The odds of a wolf killing a human is about 1 in 192 million a year.

@celticeagle I was born and raised on a farm in Southern Missouri. There are a lot of human disappearances that can't be accounted for and later, only bones are found. They aren't counted among those killed and eaten by wild animals.

Because our trip to the Keys was aborted, we didn't get to go to a wolf experience. I would have LOVED to have a wolf nuzzle me or sit by me. They are such beautiful creatures.

Yes, they are. I have wanted to go to one of the howling but it is quite expensive. For a good cause but still....!!

Wolves are my favorite animal, they are monogamous and extremely loyal to their pack mates ..... but the wild being the wild, wolves not of the pack are not well received.
