Black Friday

Thanksgiving will be here in 12 days. I am seeing Black Friday ads already. I was curious and so I did some research on info about BF and found these things interesting:
* It originated in the 50s and 60s as a term signifying a move from "in the red" to "in the black". The police in Philadelphia used the term on this chaotic day in 1961.
* Some retailers manipulate prices before sales while others offer genuine discounts to get rid of inventory. This in an attempt to make room for new items.
* Retailers use algorithms to adjust prices. This is based on browsing history and demand.
* Shopping online often has better prices than the store.
* If a person has a loyalty program/card taking advantage of this now can often get you better prices.
TikTok and Instagram may have exclusive offers.
Do you shop on Black Friday? Online or in the store. I don't and do most of my shopping online.

I would buy stuff on Black Friday when I was forced to be in the store anyway, taking care of customers. But I won't willingly go into a store on that day if not forced. (While working at Walmart, I often got 10% more off the prices using my Walmart Discount card. I don't have that anymore.)
I haven't looked to see what was being sold this year. Pretty may have looked and may plan on buying something online. I don't know because I haven't asked yet.

We don't do any buying for gifts anymore. Can't afford to and it just seems to be a big retail thing anymore.

If eBay has a Black Friday deal on undergarments, I will order some undergarments since it is an item I need.

I do not shop on Black Friday. It's way too hectic and crowded.

I totally agree with you. If I can't find it online I don't get it.

@celticeagle Online shopping is way better and I agree, if you can't find it online, I don't get it.

Normally we don’t, but if I see a great deal on something we need I will.

I don't shop online on Black Friday anymore. I only have to get 3 or 4 gift cards this year. I will order those next month.

Not like a tradition. I mean I would buy something if I need it but not because its black friday sale.
