Counting on karma

The photo has nothing to do with the post. Gnowangeruup in Western Australia has a large Philippino population and this tractor commemorates their contribution to our country areas – and elsewhere. The tractor has had additions to make it slightly resemble a tuktuk. There is a nativity scene to one side. But what I really wanted to say was that Vince read out a Facebook comment to me today. It was from a woman driver and went something like this: To the male driver of a battered old white Toyota who tooted me, shouted obscene language and gave me the finger, I was trying to tell you your mobile phone was sitting on the roof of your car. I hope you got the day you deserve. I wonder if karma got him.

Some people really feel the need to be rude. Glad you like the photo.

Quite probably he is now looking for a new phone so that won't be too cheap.

That's funny! I once drove away with a camera on the roof of the car. The strap was rolled up in the window.. That's the only reason I knew. Luckily, it wasn't lost.

@JudyEv OMI Gosh, that must have been a strong cup!! My sister tells a funny story about getting locked out of her car in a small town and several people came over to watch like it was high entertainment. She happened to have a hamburger on the seat she had just taken a bite of, and one of the people told her "Hey, your hamburger is getting cold." When she finally got back in the car and started driving away embarassed, Somebody tapped on her window and gave her the chocolate milk she had left on the roof..

My friend drove several blocks to work one day round a number of corners and her coffee cup was still on the roof when she got there.

It served him right, didn't it? There is no need to be so rude.

Yes, that does look like a tuktuk. Very nice! (A Filipino friend took a picture of one when he was going to school and sent it to me so I'd understand what he was talking about...) I hope the guy got just what he deserved, too. I've seen videos online where people were trying to let somebody know they left something on the roof of their car and drove off. I don't understand why they're so rude to those people.

It's doesn't hurt to think about what might be the reason someone's trying to tell them something other than complaining about bad driving maybe.

I shouldn't laugh and yet, here I am. I am betting on karma. I love the photo and that is an unusual vehicle but so wonderfully unique.

We have a lot of Philippinos working in our state. They seem especially kind to older people and you find a lot in nursing homes. It's unfortunate that they don't get paid very much for such work.

@JudyEv That is so wonderful to hear how compassionate they are there. That is sad they don't get paid much.

Many of the Asians have a totally different attitude to the elderly and treat them all with great respect.

There are a lot of Muslims in that area. In Katanning, many are employed in the meatworks there.

Quite possibly he wasn't able to find his phone once it fell off the car.
