Dentist is expensive

I went to the dentist November 5th. I had cleaning done and the dentist came to see me for a few minutes at most. Cleaning was $150 and the periodic oral evaluation (dentist) was $125. There was an in-office write-off of $80 so I had to pay $195 instead of $275. Since I paid with my credit card I will get $2.93 cash back. It’s not much but I’ll take it.
My insurance being out of network sent me a reimbursement check. It was only $22. Wish it was more but at least I got something back. I don’t have the money yet. Since the check is made out to hubby I have to wait for him to deposit the check and give me my money.

In my country dentists are not only expensive buy the health insurance companies don´t cover the costs.

Wow! That is not good. What if you can’t afford to pay for the dentist?

@marguicha We also need a separate insurance for the dentist. Only one tooth cleaning per year is covered.

Yeah, better the minute amount than nothing. I know people with good teeth have to pay a premium for good work. Keeping up on it is key.
A reimbursement check, huh? Wow!

I wish mine was in network.
I bet your dental bills are through the roof.

Cleaning is covered 100% by my insurance twice a year. Can you change to an in-network dentist?

I have no idea if I’ll have the same insurance next year.
