I've Got a 'TODO' List Already Before Most Think About Spring Cleaning.

My big closet has become a catch all for my grandson's electric stuff he wants to save, my daughter's stuff that won't fit in her full closet, and I need to go through clothes and do dads and see what I want to give to Goodwill, sell, or keep.
We need to go through the storage room we have on the back of the apartment too. Broken bikes we no longer need and some old papers that need to be cleaned up and throw away. It needs to be swept out and the bikes rearranged.
My daughter needs to go through her craft closet downstairs and see if she can get rid of some of it she won't use.
And we have an area under the stairs where we have Christmas decorations, and miscellaneous items that we have 'lost' and need to find.
So, I am going to try to get the kids to get the house in order and get started doing these things. I know there will be a lot of sighs, eye rolling and ugly looks so I will need to ease into slowly.

If one gets done, I'll be happy. I can't move the Rock of Gibraltar.

I hope I can summon the energy to give away the 1000 garments I don“t use. They clutter my closets and nobody I know is interested in them.

That's how it goes. If isn't in fashion many don't want it. I'm happy to see that at least for a while we had a resurgence of the 60s hippie prints and vintage clothes were popular. I don't think it has lasted very long or not many want the older stuff.

@celticeagle I have some awesome dresses that can be altered and are made with wonderful material. Yet nobody wants them.

@marguicha .......That's a real shame. Well-made articles of clothing are rare these days.

I hope you can get it all done soon-ish... Taking it slow might keep the eye rolls to a minimum.

The eye rolls come with the activity no matter how it is approached I'm afraid.

I wanted vince to do some paperwork and filing once and I asked to just do ten minutes - without complaining. After ten minutes, it was nearly done and he was motivated enough to finish it. Sometimes if you can all agree to just do one box/carton/drawer each day or better still, one each then it doesn't take long before you can see the difference. That is motivation in itself to keep going.

I can see what you are saying and it's a good idea. The downstairs stuff would have to be done that way. Hopefully my daughter can go through her crafts a bit at a time. Under the stairs I don't know about. We will have to see.

@celticeagle If you set a goal of just doing a tiny bit it doesn't become so overwhelming and you're not so likely to put it off.

I can relate to having to get rid of items that I do not need inside of my home from time to time.

It's a good way to clean up and make room for more stuff.

Good luck. I have a ton of downsizing and donating to do. Cousin #3 will have to help me one day.

I hope she does help you. That can be a lot of time-consuming work.

@celticeagle Or maybe the new lady will be the one since she has a LOT more time available than cousin #3.

I hope so too. Yeah, you get a lot accomplished but I have to work on them to get them to do it.
