What we saw wasn't quite what we got

We went to a Country Music Muster some weeks back and enjoyed ourselves very much. The photo shows part of the cover of the booklet which was given out to everyone. Doesn’t the cowboy on the left look pretty handsome? I was looking forward to seeing him come on stage and sing. He certainly gave a great performance but was nearly as old as I am. Well, not quite but he’d certainly aged a lot since the photo was taken. Seriously, I find that a bit misleading when it’s so obvious that a photo is well out-of-date but it’s no big deal really. It happens all the time. It’s probably time I put up a new avatar although I don’t think I’ve changed much.

I have a friend who goes on dating sites . . . she has met some of those guys in person who turned out to be a lot older than the photo they presented on the site . I somehow remember the photo of you ziplining . . . I always thought you looked youthful .

I wonder why they didn’t have that updated photo. Maybe he’s self conscious about aging, but that’s a shame.

Who is the guy? He looks like he's in his thirties or around that... We already know you're in your middle-twenties... You always put up pictures of your mom and claim it's you. A myLotter saw a picture of me a few years ago and claimed it didn't look like me at all. She's never even met me in person.

He preferred to use an old photo when he was a lot younger. You are right it happens all the time and often even recent photos are so much "enhanced" with the phone filters that you can barely recognize people when you see them in person.

@JudyEv - I fully agree with you. Those "filtered" selfies are ridiculous, you notice that the wrinkles on the face have been smoothed, but NOT on the neck.

I don't think it does them any favours really to do this. I'm often a bit disappointed when I see someone in person and they're obviously a lot older than their publicity photos.

Yes that does happen a lot, I often notice that photos on CD covers, for example, are about ten or more years behind the actual person on stage!

He is quite handsome. I wish they would update photos when it's for concerts and public events. My avatar is from last November. I go back and forth about updating. I'm 66 and was told I still look the same as when I was 60. Bless their lying hearts. Think I'll put a current one I took a month ago.

@JudyEv Thank you. I think some celebrities want people to see them as they were and come to see them. If they put an older photo, fans may not think they are the same and won't attend.
