When George and I first met, we had our laundry routines. As I've mentioned before, i do mine twice a week. The last few weeks have thrown a wrench in the works so-to-speak with all of the scheduling, appoitment planning, etc. So, I wound up doing smething I haven't done since we got our first washer and dryer of our own... I did laundry late at night after dark. I used to do this overnight due to George's demanding schedule. Then we got solar pannals and George cut his hours. Now he's retired. so I'd gone back to doing it during the day. But today I wound up doing it later than usual, just now putting it in the dryer.

I do laundry at night sometimes depends on what needs washing and my work hours. Some weeks are easier than others.

I usually do laundry early in the morning. If the sun shines I can still hang outside to dry, if not I use the dryer.

Dryers are more commonly used in the states, although there are some who perfer to hang clothes. Which is fine. I don't mind. TO each their own I guess. For me dryer is the safer option.

@LadyDuck Here it's next to nothing, because the sun provides the power. so for us it's the same.

@kaylachan - I like to hang the small things out, the sun is free, the energy to dry clothes costs a fortune.

My washer is finally fixed; and cousin #2 did a load for me yesterday. The washer didn't walk across the floor for a change. Yay!

Laundry here gets done mostly during the day. For us it just makes sense. I generally do whites and towels, and the wife handles the rest.

I like to save a little money and eletricity so I use cold water and wash everything at once. When I was at the Conklin center, they tried to get me to seperate my laundry, and in my opinion it was a waste of money. The washers were coin-opporated and each washer cost a dollar, and the dryer varied. so it wasn't hard to go through a roll of quarters. I perfer doing laundry during the day, but I have to adapt as my husband's needs change.

@porwest I can understand that. Towels also tend to absorb a lot more water, so if you've got a lot of them, seperating them makes sense. It's easy to over load the washer and make it to heavy.

@kaylachan We use cold water too and don't really separate much. Except that socks go in one basket (those are generally the whites), and we do towels separately because they tend to be more linty. Then we do all the pants, shirts, underwear and stuff like that together in one load.

doing laundry is such a task at times we do ours every other week cause we really don't do a whole lot to dirty so many clothes in a week.

Yeah. I finished around midnight and we went to bed around 1. So I got a good six hours.

We used to put the washing machine on at night for cheaper electricity, then the clothes would be ready to hang up in the morning. Now, like you, we have solar panels so do it in the daytime. I would never leave a dryer running at night time (even if we had one) because they have a reputation for starting fires!

That's why our dryer lives in the garage with the washer. It also vents utside. Those things lower fire risk. That being said, I also don't start the dryer and go to bed. I wait until it finishes, and then go to bed.
