I just saw a video online, that would be everyone's nightmare. Picture this a Table loaded with turkey and all the accompanying side dishes. A young girl is dressed in brown and orange reading a poem or story to the assembled guests, all of a sudden, the food laden table collapsed with dishes all sliding to the floor gasp!!
. I just hope they were able to salvage most of that.Did you ever have a Thanksgiving catastrophe?

I know that my dining room table would not collapse with an obese person sitting on it.

That would be a terrible catastrophe. This never happened to us, but it happened to a friend of us. She was bringing the food from the kitchen to the dining room using a rolling buffet cart. A leg of the cart broke and several dishes fell on the floor, not everything at least.

@snowy22315 - And the loud noise scared all those sitting at the table.

I think I would be too shocked to react much other than to spring into action trying to save what I could.

That would be just so devastating for whoever was hosting the day.

Luckily no; but I've seen a lot of videos when a drunk person collapses a table or jumps on it. So bad.

I do recall one huge Thanksgiving mess. My sister and I were at my Aunt's house in St. Louis. She was a great cook, the house was full of great food smells, it was nearly time to eat. The kitchen had a wall oven. The turkey was huge, my uncle had been the one to actually put it in the oven but he never cooked anything, so he was in the living room with his football game. Aunt called to him to come and get the turkey out of the oven, so he did...and for some reason he pulled it out and set it on the open door of the oven! It snapped from the weight, the turkey and all of it's drippings and gravy hit the kitchen floor. It was a huge, huge mess!

The worst part of it all was this was in the era that it was considered the ultimate to have carpeting in the kitchen. They had just had it installed in the kitchen in time for the holidays. They even had a professional cleaning company try to clean it, but the stain would not come out and it was huge....they had to get new flooring. They did NOT get carpeting that time!

. I wonder if they were able to use that 3 second rule
