My dad took two years off my life (slight exaggeration)!

So I didn’t sleep great last night because my cold has morphed into a rattling in my chest and an annoying cough (no worries, I already have a doctor appointment tomorrow for something else anyway). The only way I’d get out in this 28 degree weather is if my family was in urgent need of something. Since my dad is already getting out for church, I asked him to bring me DayQuil. Around 9:15am, my doorbell starts ringing wildly, and I hear someone kick the water bottles too heavy for me to lift in front of my door, off to the side. I’m thinking my neighbors (despite their own foibles), are tired of seeing my water in front of my door, and my fond-of-slamming-door neighbor Wade has decided to confront me. Nope. I rush to open the door after seeing no one through the peephole, and see my dad hurriedly going down the stairs. I see a Walmart bag on my door knob, and I thank him. My heart is racing, but it gets pretty warm when I open the bag to see orange juice, Mucinex, DayQuil, NyQuil with honey, and even my known addiction, a Coke. I love that guy.

I'm glad your dad was able to help you out... It's too bad he didn't stick around a minute to bring your water in for you, though.

He’s too afraid to get my cold. Sickness used to never bother him until he got Covid several years ago. Ever since then, when he gets sick, he gets sick for a good long while.

@AmbiePam I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to catch your cold, either. I seem to be more fragile the older I get.

@DaddyEvil Yes, and I totally get that. My dad is 70 now, and I definitely worry about him more.

Glad he took care of you by getting you the medicine and goodies you need to help you feel better! Your discussion made me laugh, because it reminded me of way back when I first got Covid, when I was on my deathbed. Every day my kids (who went to stay with their mom when I had Covid so that they wouldn't be exposed) would drop off a bag of goodies (medicine, OJ and whatever life-saving essentials I needed), and then book it back down the driveway before I opened the door. They wanted to see me and make sure I was alive, but didn't want to get within a 100 feet of me. lol

Yes, that was what my dad was doing! Like you, my dad got Covid really badly, and now he’s afraid of getting any kind of sickness. His immune system was rock solid before that. He was booking it down those stairs! I don’t think I knew you had Covid. I’m glad you made it.

@moffittjc I now share your love of Disney, and understand my sister’s! I don’t know if I can ever manage going back to Disney World, but I’d like to try! I’ll have to show you the necklace I got with a gift card my family gave me to Disney. The necklace is actually an ode to Disney WORLD! And I’m so sorry you are still sick with that cold after so long. People who never had Covid do not seem to realize it’s effects are still felt.

@AmbiePam I've had Covid at least three times, two of them were extremely serious (I was hospitalized both times). And, like your dad, my immune system has sucked ever since Covid. Before Covid, I never got sick, and when I did it was for like a day or two. Now, if the breeze blows wrong I get sick for a month. In fact, I'm now 5 weeks into a simple head cold that turned into major bronchitis. I'm better now, but I'll still be coughing for at least another 2-3 weeks. I thought of you, I was just at Disney World on Black Friday! lol. It was the first day of the Festival of the Holidays at Epcot, so we went down there to spend the day eating all the treats. We also park-hopped over to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studious.

Yes, absolutely. I told him Friday I could come over, and he kept saying, I don’t want your cold! He was also in a hurry to get to church before Sunday school started too. However, let’s be real; the germs prompted that the most.

@AmbiePam - My husband has always been like your Dad about germs. When we invited someone he always asked to be sure the person had not a cold of any health problem.

Aww that is sweet. I am having a bad fever and sore throat too. I think it's the weather- the culprit!

He sure does. Some people think his gruff manner is harsh, but they haven’t seen all he does for me.
