She's a Better Shot Than Me!

In my last discussion I wrote about a mishap I had at the shooting range when I removed my flash suppressor off of the barrel of my semi-automatic rifle. The result was that I singed all the hair off my arms. Luckily, that was the worst of the damage. It could have been a lot worse. Won't be doing anything stupid like that again! lol
Anyway, I was at the shooting range because my girlfriend wanted to get some practice in with her 9mm handgun, so we thought it would be fun to spend an afternoon target shooting.
I've been a hunter most of my life, and was raised around guns, learning to shoot when I was a wee lad. My gf on the other hand, is somewhat new to using firearms. But you know what is funny? She's a better shot than I am, at least when it comes to handguns. And she's such a champ, showing patience and poise while firing the weapon. Perhaps that's why she was able to shoot so much more accurately than me!
I was even impressed that she chose not to wear any hearing protection while shooting. I always wear hearing protection. Her rationale was that if she ever needed to use the weapon in self-defense, she wouldn't have time to put on hearing protection. She wanted to know what the sound was like so she wouldn't be surprised in a real-life situation. Makes sense. But she did say afterward that her ears were ringing (she probably fired 25-30 rounds), so next time she will wear the hearing protection. Smart decision.
For you ladies out there who have shot guns before, were you a better shot than your significant other? Guys, be honest, could your ladies out-shoot you? I remember as a child going target shooting with my parents, and I vividly remember my mom being a way better shot than my dad. She was a natural at it.

Women have a reason to be good shots.
I’m a good shot, yes. The first time I shot an M-14 in the Navy I bullseyed the target. One time in practice I told the instructor I was worried about “shooting blind” (like you would in the middle of the night if someone broke into your house), so he told me to close my eyes and shoot. Six shots in the bullseye. I told him I’d just hang that on the front door and a sign, “Come on in if you dare.”

Wow, you are a good shot! I'm very impressed. I also know now not to ever show up to your house in the middle of the night! LOL

I had my wife get her permit last year, she prefers shooting my Glock 19 over her sig Sauer.

Is her Sig Sauer a "women's" version, or a man's version? My boss bought his wife a pink Sig Sauer for Christmas a few years ago, and she likes shooting his more than hers.

I am not better than him but can hit what I point at. Just was never interested in practicing. But give me a knife and watch out.

I think it would be much better if I just don’t make her mad at all. That increases my chances of living! Lol

My hubby was a Marksman in the Army; but I showed him that I could be a good shot as well. I hope your gf does wear hearing protection next time. My hubby had some hearing loss because of shooting even though he usually wore some kind of ear protection.

That’s awesome that your husband was a Marksman!
I’m pretty sure she will use hearing protection in the future. She just wanted to make sure she could handle the loud noise from firing the weapon. Interestingly, she didn’t even flinch every time she fired.

I was an equal shot to my prior husband but my current husband, a retired police officer, has had more training and practice so he is very, very good.

Some people have natural ability when it comes to shooting, but nothing beats practice and consistency, which your husband got while serving as a police officer.
I've been shooting more frequently this year than I have in past years, and I have notice my improvement in accuracy. I have also been spending more time adjusting my sights on my weapons so that I can have more reliability in my shot groupings when I fire. It's made a big difference.
But with handguns, my girlfriend seems to be a much better shot than me. She's a natural!

I was so sorry when my friend and I broke up and i could not longer go shooting, I was able to shoot out the entire middle of a target and enjoyed it a lot,
