I continue to follow the Buddhist monks as they trudge along on their historic peace march to Washington D C. They do not look like an average modern American. I read an account and plea today that made me think. The orange robed monks are moving through Mississippi. The writer is pleading for safety for the brothers. The writer worries about their safety. I sit here and wonder if the monks would be welcome in the county that I am at now. I would hope so. And yet..... if I want to attend a Unitarian church I have to travel out of my county and drive about 25 miles. The Unitarians accept anybody and advocate for peace. They allow Christ followers AND Buddists and Jews into their congregations.
I hope that the monks will be okay now. I am also sad that my hubby spoke truth when he said that once these venerable holy men get to Washington D C nothing will be done and it won't matter. But maybe something has been done as they show people that they are peace seekers not alien monsters. Maybe small town America is better for their presence and message.

I hope they make it safely to their destination. I actually agree with your hubby. trump just doesn't care and never will care about anyone who can't forward his cause(s) and will always look down on people who don't have his wealth or perceived wealth.
Most Americans don't care, either. If they did, trump never would have made it into office again.

@DaddyEvil Sadly I agree with you. I wonder when the nucleur war will be and the entire planet is wiped out? Have you seen and listened to the David Bowie and Bing Crosty video where they sing about peace and the Little Drummer Boy? My hubby is sick of it but I just can't quit listening to the crazy thing- Bowie and Bing. What a pair.

@sallypup I don't know but trump is itching to use nuclear weapons on somebody. He might decide to use them on Americans. As long as the Americans don't have much money.
I'm sorry, I don't listen to music.

It would be nice to think that they would be okay in the 21st century south. But parts of the south haven’t made it out of the 19th century yet.

@sallypup — I read that two were injured by a distracted driver near Houston, and one of them was so badly injured that his leg had to be amputated.

@FourWalls Yes. Apparently the driver did not see the Monk's support vehicle and rammed into it. The vehicle then ran into the monks. Somebody donated them a new vehicle. Their dog is precious.

I agree that sadly it will probably be an exercise in futility. I think they will have safe passage. The nearest Unitarian church is a kick from here too. I used to go, but I decided it was just too far..takes 40 minutes or so to get there, takes a good bit of gas.
