Gifts for my father – part three

I’ve written about two of the gifts I bought for my father way back when. Another one we bought was a magnetic sign which stuck to the door of his ute (pickup). It had the name of his Merino sheep stud on it. It was a decent size and covered most of the door. From memory, the stud was called ‘Rocky Dale’ and I guess it gave his name and maybe a phone number. Dad also had a Suffolk sheep stud which had a different name. I’m sorry now that we didn’t take a photo of it. I don’t know how long it lasted but I know he was pleased with the gift and drove around with it on the door. The photo is mine, showing my Dad on his motor-bike. He courted my Mum on this bike.

I'm glad your dad liked the gifts you bought him. I tried to learn to ride a motorcycle and just couldn't control it. I wrecked several times so stopped trying. *shrug*

Well when I saw the photo and title I assumed you bought him the motorbike until I read the post.

That was a fair enough assumption!

I have loved this series!! I have to tell you that it looks strange to see a man in a suit on a motorcycle, though. I realize that men “dressed up” back then, but it’s difficult to keep the suit clean on a motorcycle!!

I didn't really realize he was in suit until you mentioned it. I wonder where Mum sat? He must have got a seat put on it later.

I was pleased that he liked it. I tried hard to find something a bit different.

I think this is one of the most romantic photo-memories of your dad. I think your mom is so thrilled whenever she saw this photos before.

I am sorry you did not take a photo. It happens to me so many times to say "shame i did not take a photo". This was a wonderful bike on those times.
