Hopefully this one will make up for that other song that Linda didn’t like. And hopefully this one is one that you older boogie folks remember. After all, it did go to #1. Put on your dancing shoes as we hit the wayback machine for another song with “boogie” in the title.
Boogie Fever - The Sylvers
The family that boogies together stays together! The Sylvers was a group of brothers and sisters (ten total siblings, nine of whom were in the group at one point) from Watts (yes, the same part of L.A. synonymous with the infamous riots in the 60s). Here’s something interesting: they appeared on You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx as kids!
The Sylvers was basically a three-hit wonder: “High School Dance,” “Hot Line,” and this one. They made the mid-70s a little dancier!

I thought “Hot Line” was a better song, but that happened to me a lot in the 70s.

@TheHorse — that was just the commercial stuff. It was a great time with the advent of bands like Talking Heads and Rockpile, and one of my all-time favorite John Prine albums (Bruised Orange in 1978). The stuff on the radio was getting unbearable, you’re absolutely right.

@FourWalls The late '70s were a difficult time for me, musically.

You ever seen that part of LA now. I saw a you tube video, I think its mostly Hispanic now The info was provided by a black person and he seemed more on the last gangster types. It was very interesting.
The houses and neighborhoods look pretty good. Like lower middle class homes for the Midwest.
He goes you do not want to know how much those house are worth now and these people are still on the wrong side of the tracks. It was very interesting perspective and I think he said this area is from Rodney King decent, but both are very close and his parents told him about Watts. They kind of cross in their history.

Watts is no different than any other part of any big city that had racial troubles in the 60s. There were riots in Detroit, Chicago, and even smaller cities like here. Watts just got put on the national news.

It’s cool that the entire family could be together and make music like that.

That doesn’t surprise me in the least. These guys were in the “where are they now” department by the time you were born, which was the year after this was a hit!
