Lifestyle Diseases are a major threat

I was reading somewhere on the internet and was saddened to learn that over 70% of deaths are caused by Lifestyle Diseases which are also known as noncommunicable diseases. From cancers, heart diseases, strokes and diabetes, they mostly come into our bodies depending on how we live. I hope governments and other stakeholders introduced strict training and invested in awareness that could help citizens adhere to lifestyles that are safe and unlikely to cause disease.

Some of those you mentioned are "genetic", you can have a very healthy lifestyle, but you get those diseases from your ancestors.

As Anna mentioned they can be inherited too. One type of diabetes is inherited while another can be controlled through diet. My family has heart problems which can lead to the strokes.

Thanks for your opinion. Sorry for the heart problems in your family. But I hope there are ways to manage them and reduce the risk of strokes.

Some things cannot be avoided if they run in our family, but we can do our part in keeping the rest of our body healthy. If diabetes runs in the family, we can take extra care in what we eat, drink, and how much we exercise. Unfortunately, sometimes you can do all the right things, and health problems still plague us. We just need to do what we can, and focus on being preventative if possible. Early detection saves lives.

I had never really thought of them as 'lifestyle' type diseases, but they sure are. Interesting.

Yeah we don't take care of ourselves when were younger and eventually it catches up

Yeah it really helps for one to be cautious in his or her youthful days. It can help avoid most of the noncommunicable diseases as one ages.
