Wind is Terrifying

Trees near my trailer.

It’s honestly terrifying right now. The rain hasn’t stopped, and the winds are insanely strong. The tall tree not far from this pad is swaying hard. You can hear the wind ripping through the other pines and alders. My trailer is rocking and it's scary. I'm not facing head-in, so a huge gust can topple me. People are getting evacuation alerts in real time, roads are already underwater, and homes are filling up. It's not like that here right now but in other places not far, it is. Every few minutes there’s another update about levees breaking or entire neighborhoods being cut off. It doesn’t feel like weather anymore, it feels like watching people lose everything while it’s still happening. The worst part is just waiting, not knowing how much worse it’s going to get or who’s not going to make it out okay. The day after I got my truck home, I had to get out and almost didn't. I couldn't get back in due to the water and mud damaging the drive up to the trailer. Its parked down the mountain, or I'd hook my trailer up for holding power. For those in crazy storms, I pray you are safe and stay safe. My heart goes out to all the towns being hit heavy with flooding. The wind is catching a tarp I put on the front of my trailer until my RV cover comes and causing the cords to bounce off the trailer making a racket. I'm surprised it's held so far. I went out in this and walked around checking things. Later, my son texted me asking if I was OK. He fell asleep and heard the ring camera go off (his trailer is next to mine.) He fell asleep. In high wind. With a lot of racket. My ex-husband was this way. We were camping in South Dakota when wind alerts came and told us all to hit the shelter. He refused saying he wanted to watch our stuff and stayed in the tent. My daughter and I went to the shelter and around 5am, we made our way back to camp. Our tent was on the ground and inside, my ex was snoring. My daughter and I crawled into the Suburban and just fell asleep when he opened the door telling us rise and shine. I'll check in soon to catch up. The photo is the one tree that has been really swaying.

We are OK. It didn't cause as much damage this time, even with the high winds. Thank you

Pretty sleeps through anything, too. When I need her to wake up, I have to really raise my voice before she hears me. I hope everything is okay there. Good luck!

Thank you. I usually don't get scared but it was lifting the side of my trailer. We are OK.

That is so scary. I can’t imagine the fear so many people are experiencing. I’d be scared!

We don't have it as bad at the Olympia quarter on up to and past Seattle. Oregon got hit too. My daughter and friends in my old town were showing me photos.

Thank you. We are. We had minimal trees and other here. Some small land slides and trees down.

I can imagine that it's terrible to be inside a trailer when the wind blows. I hope that both you and your son are safe, even if not really comfortable right now. Stay safe.

Thank you. It was scary when it was hitting the trailer side-ways. It calmed down today but coming back tomorrow. It won't be as strong thankfully. Gusts about 45.

Your son sounds like he has no fear - or is it maybe no sense?? However, I do worry for you as it sounds very scary and quite dangerous where you are. I do hope you stay safe.

I sometimes wonder about the sense thing. He said he figured nothing he could do until something happens so figured he'd sleep. It was so loud. I am jealous they can do this. We had a break in weather so drove to the city for groceries and crews were already clearing trees, sandbagging places where the roads were caving and working hard.
