Did you like Christmas stockings?

My great grandparents and maternal grandparents used to have Christmas stockings for us kids, and I got way more excited about the contents of the stockings than the actual presents. Sure, it had candy, but other little things like glitter pens… I loved it so much when we had grown “too old” for that, I started doing stockings for my parents and sister. Not having money, I’d order those free samples you used to be able to get online (like from Walmart). Occasionally, I’d come upon a good deal for something else small, but my family really thought it was fun to see what I could come up with. What you see in the photo is something I recently got to try and review, and I was thinking it would have made for a great stocking stuffer. Which made me remember fondly those stockings. Perhaps I should do those again for my dad and his wife. (My sister and BIL do it for their kids) You might wonder what adult finds that as fun as presents? This adult. Do you just get excited about the big things and overlook the small? I’d hate to put effort into something and then someone just toss everything. How are you guys about stockings?

I did Christmas stockings for Pretty and whichever of her friends were staying with us when they were kids up into their teen years. I had one for me, too, and passed the stuff in it out to other people.

In our Latvian traditon there are no Chrismas stocking, We always opened our presents on Christmas Eve, When I lived in Latvia I covered both Christmas Eve and Day by laying out Chrismas Eve dinner at 10 PM and by the time we ate it was present time it was midnight and Chrismas Day anyway,

Stockings were always fun when I was growing up and like you said, sometimes more fun than the actual presents. I always did stockngs when my kids were growing up and every Christmas morning they would start by opening the stockings before we got to the actual gifts. I always found it more fun to fill their stockings and see their reactions when they opened them. It's funny that my daughters were just talking about those Christmases of days gone by and how much fun it was. The only one who gets a stocking now is Mush it's filled with treats and a few little toys.

My Mom hung a stocking on the end of her bed on Dec. 6th cause that was when Saint Nick would show up and give them goodies like a little orange.

I used to hang them when I was a kid and I really miss it for I'm already an elderly. Kids nowadays are fun of them.
