Q of the Day: What was Your Favorite Fashion Trend Decade(s)

Each decade seemed to have a fashion trend which caught on and became really popular. The roaring Twenties had the "Flapper Girls" with their knee length loose fitting fringe dresses, usually decorated with beads or feathers.
The Thirties influenced by Hollywood icons saw a slick look where those who could dressed like they were attending the Academy Awards. Mink stoles, silky gowns, and wavy hair set the tone.
The Forties saw woman working in factories while the men were off to war, so head scarfs to keep their hair in place made sense and made a statement too.
The Fifties with girls wearing polka dot skirts and guys leather jackets said fun, fun, fun...
Well, you get the idea. Fashion trends come and go with each decade, and sometimes come back as a "retro" style.
My favorite fashion period was during the 60's when I was a youngster, first with the "mod" style brought over from Britain, and then the hippie counterculture movement which brought in a whole different fashion. I remember buying a "peacoat" which had that naval look in H.S., then when I went to college embracing the hippie tie-dyed bell bottoms, jeans jacket, and earth shoes.
So, what was your favorite fashion trend decade(s) and styles?

Did you gravitate to the Disco style of the 70's? And did you embrace the punk style? They say Madonna was a big influencer of punk fashion. Dressing in all black outfits were a popular trend.
Here are some other fashion oddities:
70's- Platform shoes and gold chains
80's- Punk look Mohawks, Neon, spandex and leg warmers

My dad says I dress like a flower child. Seeing as I was born in 1981, I didn’t really see those trends in action, but they did make a come back in the 1990s. I seem to have gravitated towards that kind of style. Bright colors though. No brown in my wardrobe.

@dgobucks226 My mom had us in saddle shoes in the 1980s, that’s for sure. And sure enough, platforms were back in the 1990s, and I wore wedges, which were cousins of the platform. Which is hilarious because I’m 5’11, and those wedges made me well over six feet.
Eighties fashion was so bad!

@AmbiePam Ha, ha, wedges you did not need. It is funny how certain style periods return in some form.
If you a cheerleader in H.S. back in the day, saddle shoes were a must.

The hippie era's clothing was so free and easy wasn't it. A decade of out of sight fashion and experimentation.

I loved the 60s for the Carnaby Street fashions, bell bottoms, etc. I was thin; so I didn't even have to try them on. They always fit. I wanted my long hair to be straight since it was the fashion; but I tried everything; and nothing worked. Now I enjoy my short curly hair which only requires me to run a brush through it.

@dgobucks226 I'd go back to the 60s and 70s in a minute if I could! Great music, great clothes, a safer world.

Yes, bell bottoms became a big fashion statement of the counter-culture movement in the 60's peaking during the 70's and into the disco era. I've seen some of the younger kids and famous models reviving the look today.
Carnaby street was the center of 60's fashion in swinging London.
Other 60's trends- Mini skirts, go-go boots, parkas, unisex outfits and bold and bright colors.

Not bowing or being tempted by peer pressure to fit in. Admirable... I think, lol.

I see. So, you like those English dresses popularized in the Jane Austen TV dramas. Those 19th Century styles were unique with their puffed sleeves, pastel colors, and elegant flair.
Interesting response, thanks!
